Up And Coming
Authentic Tiramisu that goes light on the alcohol so that everyone (especially cocoa lovers) can enjoy this large slice of heaven! This place can be pricey so be prepared to fork out a little more for the Italian ambiance and friendly waitstaff. If you're looking to celebrate an occasion with good food and wine here's a good place to stop by!
At $14++, it's hard to believe that you're getting a pizza in such a nice restaurant like Commonground. They have a variety of pizza flavours, both traditional and exotic. I opted for the Cajun Salmon one and wasn't disappointed! The pizza crust reminded me of Japanese thin crust pizzas and the pizza wasn't drowned in cheese like certain big brand outlets. A light meal to keep you going throughout the day (especially if you're using the sports facilities like the running track or badminton court in the building!)
Did I mention that this is In Tampines Hub? And how huge and amazing this place is?
An interesting take on the traditional wanton mee. The truffle flavour is evident but not overpowering, preserving the soy base of the noodles. A delicious twist for people who like other truffle flavoured foods like truffle fries, but at $6 it isn't that much better than it's normal $4 counterpart.
Finally, I decided to try out the tarts from the shop here that so many have been raving about. Got a box of 5 tarts from their Durian, Chocolate and Cheese flavours. I kinda regret not heating it up before eating (I was hungry!) because the runny filling inside would've been much better if it were hot. Otherwise it was about average and I felt slightly let down...
Tucked away in the corner of a hip, coffee shop styled restaurant, a Mediterranean shop sells Greek dishes. A delicious first stab at the Mediterranean flavour and hey, something new every day at $14.90 right?
A new place opened by Mark Lee in the trendy Kallang Wave Mall. Called Hotcakes 骚饼 it serves drinks like milk tea and pancakes. Biting into the kaya filled one, it reminded me of a soft Ban Chang Kueh.
They call it crepes and I can see the similarity but the presentation reminds me nothing of its French counterpart. Whether it'll stay as a landmark in the area remains to be seen...
