Located along North Bridge Road, this restaurant has been quickly gaining traction in Burpple's Muslim community for both its East-meets-West dishes as well as its minimalist interior. Come with your date and start with the simple but satisfying Beef Brisket Man Tou ($10) β€” slow cooked pulled beef brisket in a homemade barbecue sauce, stuffed into freshly fried, pillowy soft mantous. For mains, Hyde's Chili Crab Pasta ($18) comes highly recommended β€” expect al dente linguine tossed in a homemade spicy (they mean fiery!) arrabiatta sauce and topped with a generous portion of blue swimmer crab. End your meal on a sweet note with the Ondeh Ondeh Toast ($12), grated pandan coconut over two fluffy brioche toasts. It is served alongside vanilla bean ice cream and drizzled with gula melaka sauce.

Quite a rare dish to be found in a cafe β€” pretty decent as well considering that the Aubergines were soft to bite and carried a nice hint of charred smokiness; all that while it's being balanced out with a creamy and thick yogurt dressing with a hint of garlicky flavours and za'tar spices for a little savouriness, while the pomegranate seeds adds a little sour zing to lift all the flavours together. Sounds pretty unconventional but works!

[Halal] I didn't know what I was expecting with this, but I was pleasantly surprised - mostly by how accurately replicated the blackcurrant tanginess in the magenta sauce. It was a little too thin and watery, if I must be honest.

Ironically enough, despite the chicken looking browned and well-seasoned, I didn't find it to be sapid at all. I was hoping for a more kick. But that's fine because the white meat soaked up that zingy sauce so easily. The flavours meshed surprisingly well.

In short, this dish to some extent exhibited the beauty of the algorithm of flavour fusion. I quite liked it. (7/10)

Saw this good deal on Qoo10 @ $13.90 (usually $16.90 on Qoo10, and pasta alone is about $12.90). Full set comes with choice of Pasta in Jar, choice of Mud Tart Dessert and Wide Selection of Drinks! So worth it! Yum yum! Tried the signature Bulbous Oriental Spaghetti! They used angel hair spaghetti which is thinner than normal spaghetti! My favorite! It's hard to find in pasta restaurant. Pasta was al dente, ideal consistency and just flavoured enough. The fish roe have some crunch and smoked duck enriched the taste of the dish! Pasta in jar was a little difficult to scoop out to eat. But love the concept! Recommend all to close the jar and give it some shake to mix everything together. The flower pot mud tart was interesting! Chose the regular flavour - Matcha! The matcha is very rich and fudgy. It does complement well with the Oreo! Suggest to share with friends as it may get a little too sweet.

If you are into unagi, here's a new dish you should not miss at The Armoury, their "Tempura Unagi with Scallion Remoulade".
Each of the large boneless pieces of Japanese eel were coated in a light and crunchy batter that wasn't oily at all.
I thought they tasted good, and then I dunked one in the accompanying dip and was even more impressed. Somehow, the savoury creaminess of the remoulade was the perfect match for the sweet-sauced unagi. A good squeeze of the lime is also a must.

Opened by the same duo that owns A Poke Theory, Alter Ego’s grunge industrial vibe is a world apart from the clean space of its Telok Ayer counterpart.

The #BurppleTastemakers had a major tasting session few weeks back, and we experienced the day-to-night transition of dishes - we did eat for 3 hours long after all πŸ˜‚ The caramelised ikan bilis with cashew nuts was my ultimate weakness. The puffy anchovies are generously dressed with a secret spice mix before being baked, creating the addictive candied gloss. Witnesses have spotted me sneaking my fingers into the bowl non-stop... I'm a sucker for delicious sweet and savoury foods, and there was no way I could back off from the crispy snack. This, with a bottle of cider from their long list of beverages, will make your night out a well-celebrated one.

Thanks @Burpple for the invite, and @chocolatetbasil from @alteregosg for stuffing us silly! #Burpple

Gather the ladies in your life for good-for-the-skin hotpot ($25 per person, minimum two diners) in town. Tsukada Nojo takes pride in their collagen-rich stock, made by stewing organic Jidori chicken bones for over eight hours until they dissolve to form a silky collagen pudding β€” this is what servers will bring to the table to heat in the pot. The pudding will melt into a nourishing soup, in which you can then cook your tray of of organic vegetables, seafood and tender chicken meat. On top of that, you get a choice of noodles and porridge β€” we highly recommend going with their signature thick and chewy mochi mochi noodles! Pro-tip: There are also outlets in Liang Court, Westgate and Chinatown Point. To skip the queue, you can make reservations only for the Chinatown Point outlet.

Fans of Neil Road's Jing Hua Xiao Chi can get their homemade dumplings, zha jiang noodles and crispy red bean pancake fix at this outlet along Bugis Village, with a shorter waiting time too. No matter what dishes you're eyeing, be sure to start with an order of their signature Pan Fried Pork and Seafood Dumplings ($8 for 10 pieces). It's the star attraction for Burpple Tastemaker Sheryl Lyx β€” crispy skin stuffed with a generous filling of chives and minced pork that "breaks apart to release a good amount of porky essence (think XLB soup within the dumpling)". Apart from dumplings, the Chinese Pizza ($11) packed with well-seasoned minced meat and wrapped in a crispy yet crumbly crust is great for sharing in a group. End your meal on a sweet note with their signature dessert β€” Crispy Red Bean Pancake ($10). It's crispy on the outside, mochi-like in the middle and packed with sweet red bean filling.

A bold name, but it leaves an impression for more than just that. My Favourite Cafe serves just yong tau foo, but its popularity is strong enough to spur two outlets in the city. The queue was still present even after 2pm on a weekday!

Even without checking online recommendations, the famed fried meatballs and huge Korean mushrooms were eye-catching enough to be must-adds. The rest of the ingredients are ordinary, though I commend on the generous array that seems to be regularly restocked.
:
The curry soup base was watery but not diluted, it’s quite like laksa with even a tinge of possibly hae bi hiam flavour in it but not as heavy. The mushrooms are great for eating with soups, they become so plump after soaking in the curry so biting into them was a delight. My fried meatball was a bit of a letdown as it was obviously been left in the open for sometime, thus cold. Crunchy still, but not impressive. I guess it would’ve been better if I had chanced upon a freshly fried batch.
:
$5.80 for yong tau foo is a hefty price in my opinion, but I wouldn’t mind going back for the mushrooms if I’m in Bugis Cube again. #BurppleBestBugis

Thank you @slakesingapore and @burpple for the Eatup tonight !

A discreet bar & kitchen at Swan Lake Avenue that serves exquisitely flavored dishes with Peranakan and Vietnamese influences .

Featuring the Grilled Whole Norwegian Mackerel with Truffled Sweet Potato Fries. Nicely grilled and beautiful presentation .

Thank you @zippyzipeng for being the hand/torso model! :p

There's nothing like awesome comfort food on a dreary rainy day like today. Soft pillows of gnocchi stir tossed with a very tasty concoction of spicy dried shrimp, topped with some arugula and a sous vide egg. Stop salivating. Go get some. NAO.
#slakesg #burpple

The meat literally melts in your mouth and the well rendered fat just coats your mouth with enough goodness before it gets overwhelming. The unique star fruit pickle creates little burst of crunchy freshness to compliment the richness of the duck. You could sit there and eat this all night long.
