It’s all about the choices here at the “multi-cuisine” eight-in-one restaurant. There’s Hakka Crab for Chinese hawker fare, Hook & Cook for seafood, Malt Berry Ape for booze, Chiyo Sushi for Japanese Cuisine, Yi for vegetarian fine-dine, Nibbles for light bites, Confessions of Lady Laura for desserts and Caffeinees for coffee. The hardest decision will be what to order first. After what seemed like an hour of flipping the menu back and forth, I finally decided on one of the restaurant’s top 10 recs -Fried Mee Hoon with Clams and Petai (RM26). Anything with petai gets me weak in the knees! Enjoyed the texture it brings to the fried meehoon though I wish the clams were sweeter and plumper. Grab your mates and make sure you come with an empty stomach. Their monthly highlights and happy hour promo sound pretty irresistible. Be sure to check out their website for more info!
This was unfortunately a let-down. Try as might to find a silver lining, it is just impossible. The portion doesn't justify the price, the spicy red bean paste is insulting (tasted more like bottled chilli sauce, weakened with water), topokki's served cold and tables, greasy. Just, nope.
One of Sunway Pyramid’s best kept secrets, expect some satisfying indian food here. Not the cheapest around, but its darn good and deserves as much attention as its next door neighbours. If budget’s a concern, their set lunches are worth the sit-in. Among their 10 choices, my eyes were peeled on the attention-grabbing Diet Satisfying Vegan Meal (RM14.9) which is essentially Biryani rice with okra, tofu curry and dhal curry, served together with a basket of black pepper poppadum and spicy mint dip (a must try when you dine here), and lemon tea. My diet was so satisfied with this vegan meal. The curries were delicious and well-spiced, the poppadum spicy yet addictive. Left this place a happy camper!
Got a hankering for steak post-shopping? NY Steak Shack should be your go to for affordable prime beef steaks. Steaks here are served with two sides and a sauce of your choice. Opted for the NY Striploin (RM27.45/ 150 gms) done mid-rare with mixed veges and mashed potatoes, and demiglace on the side. What a bargain.
PS. For solo diners, staff is chatty here and pretty much involved in the entire duration of your meal - so unless you're feeling chummy, might wanna keep the headphones plugged.
A post-lunch treat at Sunway Pyramid’s latest dessert kid on the block that’s apparently famous for their “Choco Cro” chocolate croissant. An accidental find, the plastic models out front totally got my eyes looped in on their other icy treats. Dived into the Nara (RM18), a WA-series, thick vanilla soft-serve with matcha ice-cream, matcha jelly and Tsubuan (Azuki-bean paste). Looked and tasted just as good as its plastic-perfect counterpart.
