Sinful Dinners
Generous on the spice and fishcakes! They also serve ginseng chicken which is rare around this area
Get hands on with your jumuk bap! The kimchi stew hit the right spot, good balance of sweet sour and spiciness 😍
Unlimited pork belly & neck, kimchi stew, banchan, etc. Their grill is handcrafted from lava (Halla mountain, Jeju island) then heat treated, patented in Korea which claims to have health benefits. So there’s no reason to eat less!
One of the popular banana leaf rice spots in KL which is still utilising fresh banana leafs. Drown the rice in various curries, mix the sides and your selected protein (fried sotong being the most popular)
Crispy and well marinated, would’ve been better if the chicken was leaner
RM5.30 for a decent portion of kampung fried rice, with generous serving of chicken cubes, kangkung and anchovies. [Halal]
Nasi lemak with salted egg yolk fried chicken. It definitely came with more keropok but everyone dived into it before I could take a pic! Loved how they serve it with kangkung and petai sambal.
Friendly advice: Have some mint after petai 😉
Boiled octopus drenched in sesame oil and soy sauce, then served with chilli. Simple yet addictive. RM10 for a small portion.
Ipoh old town is also famed for 月光河, superior cousin of the traditional Chinese 'Wat Dan Hor'. The egg represents the moon, hence naming this dish 'Moonlight River', which adds subtle texture to the noodles. Good for sharing as it could be too gooey for some.
RM6.50/portion as shown in the pic.
Amazing, delicious, heavenly, finger licking good - Can't find a better way to describe the spicy crabs, you have to try it to understand 😍 One of my favourite places in town, with daily queues over the past years (more than 10 years?). The minimum order for crab is 900g (RM50/600g), sufficient for 2 pax. I usually don't stop there.... Will add on a small fried rice (RM8), some chicken wings (RM2.50/pair), toast bread (RM0.4/slice) and a bowl of gravy (RM3/bowl). For spicy food lovers, ADD THE GRAVY TO EVERYTHING, the rice, the bread (that's the whole purpose of getting toast bread anyways)!
Fun fact: Years ago, additional bowls of gravy came for free, but due to popular demand, they're pretty reluctant to provide - You'll only get a bowl after requesting for a few times. Guess they found a better way to handle it with extra charges - Customers willingly pay, you happily serve it 😉
Tip: Opens Tues-Sun 5pm to 11pm. Either be early or late to beat the queues. But be prepared to forgo the chicken wings if you're late, they sell out fast! Cash terms, pork free
Often one of the sidelined option under their signature menu, the notorious short ribs (RM42) lived up to its name. The fragrant onion rice was topped with tender and succulent braised short ribs. However, the delicate taste of special rendang sauce (served by the side) was overpowered by the spiciness/tanginess of acar.
Suitable for sharing but relatively small. Do note that this is beef, but pork-lovers please give it a try! RSVP if your group has more than 5, food service is prompt once seated
Tender chicken pieces and juicy burger patties paired with beef bacon, drenched in cheese sauce, topped with butter glazed buns. RM 18 for a Double Baconizer but you can chip in additional RM3 for 2 sausages and a drink of your of choice. Visited this place on a weekday night so there were no parking issues and service was prompt.
