Hawker Fare
Just visited the relatively new hawker centre in Yishun. Like other hawker centers, it had a huge variety of local food. I eventually chose to have the prawn noodle from the prawn noodle stall and it sure did not disappoint (there are other noodle stalls that sells prawn noodle as one of their noodle types... which Iām sure is not that nice due to the lack of specialization). The soup had a great prawn aroma and the pork ribs fell off the bones and melted in my mouth so easily! The pork ribs were also really well seasoned as the prawn taste had thoroughly infused into it.
I had yellow noodles with it , but I think a mix of noodles with kuay teow would be better as the kuay teow would help to neutralize the slightly salty prawn soup.
Overall this is something that Iāll get again when Iām back here

Also this hawker centre has a few innovative concepts that i thoroughly support:
(1) payment by scanning of QR code
(2) tray deposit of $0.50, which one would get back when one returns the tray to the tray return point.
(3) Singtel@wifi and wireless@sg are both available at this hawker centre
I enjoy seeing Singapore progressing as a technologically advanced and socially aware country! This is a small step in the right direction!
This is a must order at JB Ah Meng kitchen. It is chao ta but it just tastes so good! The 'chao ta' nature of the bee hoon gives it a good subtle crisp, which is divine when mixed with the smooth and silky bee hoon. It also has quite a strong burnt smell, which can be poison to some and gold to others, so if you can't stand such a smell you might want to avoid this.
Prawn Mee with (really) thick, tasty and fragrant prawn soup. Yumz. The prawns and ribs were also really fresh! A must get if you are at the old airport road hawker center.
Price:~$5. This prawn mee was good. It was sufficiently wet without being overly drenched. The chili was also nice given that the spicy/salty ratio was just right. The prawns were also fresh. This dish also had a good aroma. Would get this again when I'm in the area.
Price: $3. Was quite disappointing because i have seen such good review of this minced meat noodle. I found it very average and nothing special. The soup was a little too oily for my liking. The noodle was also not Q enough. The best thing is possibly the minced meat which was soft and tasty (though slightly too mushy). I'll give this a miss if I were in the area again
Price $5 for medium size. Absolutely value for money. The friend omelette was crispy and tasty and not overly oily. The oysters were also b big and fresh. One of the best oyster omelette I've had! It also came very quickly (less than 10mins) despite it being a super popular stall! Will definitely get it again if I'm in the area
Price: $4. Just about the best Wanton mee ever. At a mere $4, you get an extremely generous and delicious bowl of Wanton mee filled with char Siew (a freaking lot of them), fried wantons and Q noodles. What's more is that the individual items are šš especially the char siew!!! Never expected such good char siew from a wanton mee stall. The only downside is perhaps the queue, which can get REALLY long during lunch hours, and perhaps the rate at which the char siew gets sold out. Be early or be ready to regret missing out!
