Brunchy Munchies 😊
Free The Robot still has one of the best pastas you can find in a cafe. A simple light and creamy sauce coating perfectly al dente spaghetti that I’d be happy having on its own. But pair it with their massive chicken meatballs that are juicy and tender, and you’ve got yourself a winner here. And if that isn’t enough, how can you say no to @whereisbaileys’ cute little tush there?
Usually I shy away from generic ‘Big Breakfasts’ in cafes as they’re usually pretty boring and there’s always something wrong with one of the many components, but Free The Robot’s version actually hit all the right spots for me. Their bread was light and perfectly toasted, together with fluffy scrambled eggs, spicy sausage, crusty hash and crisp bacon simply made my morning that much better! Pair it with one of their yummo cuppa coffees (beans from Indonesia) for a complete brunch. 🙌
For $18 bucks, the amount of meat in this bowl is pretty obscene! Tasty seasoned beef atop a bed of cauliflower rice, flat eggplant discs, cherry tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms and a dollop of guac makes for a damn hearty bowl (conveniently left out the beans cause I ain’t a baked bean person). Waking up to a bowl of this and their coffee on the weekend is just pure bliss.🙇🏻♂️
All thanks to Burpple Beyond, we got to enjoy a hearty brunch without breaking the bank! Carb lovers would enjoy this beef sandwich which comes with lots of bread and a heap of roasted potatoes. The laksa pasta seems to have been tweaked since I last had it; now with much more gravy, a perfect combo to mop up with all that bread!

The simple name undermines what a tasty side dish this is! Using snapper, the fish was moist and fluffy, encased in a light, airy batter. Such a satisfying crunch with each bite, the portions are generous too, making this a definite reorder the next time I’m back! 👅💦
New on Thus Coffee’s menu, this Garlic Carbonara doesn’t skimp on flavour! Not too heavy (though I don’t recommend tackling this by yourself), there’s chunks of soft, roasted garlic that just disintegrates in your mouth. Lending a Japanese twist to the pasta, the addition of ikura, bonito and furikake also gives a nice pop of saltiness and umami. And finally, for that little bit of bite are shreds of bacon, making sure that every mouth of this pasta stays exciting.
Spacious, comfortable and aesthetic, this cafe tucked away along Jln Kuras definitely warrants a return visit! 🙌
If you’re going to order this here, make sure you REALLY adore luncheon meat. Not only do you get two thick slices of spam and breaded spam sticks, chunks of spam are actually incorporated into the batter! Sure to please any luncheon meat lover. ❤️
Three giant fluffy pancakes in a stack, this was more than a mere man like myself could handle (it can get jelat). Honestly, just get this to share between two and you’re good for the rest of the day.
Highly recommended by the cashier, their spin on chicken and waffles comes with buttermilk pancakes instead. The fried chicken was quite good; moist with crispy skin, but wasn’t particularly exciting though I did enjoy the slightly charred and buttery pancakes drizzled in their chilli maple syrup (though it’s probably just chilli flakes and maple syrup). A pretty satisfying brunch item overall, though I was hoping a little more ommph. 🥊
This came with a disclaimer, “Not for the faint-hearted”. Man, you’d better listen to them! This is the first French Toast I’ve had that has a crispy crust around it, further coated by a good sprinkling of brown sugar. Living up to its namesake, it was indeed fabulously fluffy too. The sausages were nice but I’d probably avoid the cardboard-ish turkey bacon the next time and go for the fruit pairings instead.
Braved the sun today for brunch!☀️ Coffee’s good and the air conditioning provides such a respite from the heat. Got the grilled cheese that everyone seems to get here and at first sight, it is impressive! A tower of thick toast with melty cheese, a generous bed of rocket and parm and some grilled peppers for some juiciness. The saltiness of the cheeses does great with the toast, but it does get gelat after a few mouths, and there’s only so much the grilled peppers can do. A side of tomatoes or a sauce would have been great with this, but I’d definitely only get this if I’m sharing.
The sandwiches here are the clear winners if you ask me, and this Rodeo Hero has all the makings of a satisfying lunchtime meal.
It feels like one of those sandwiches where you stuff all of last night’s leftovers in between bread and you just go, ”Awwww yissss”. Tender slices of Angus beef, pickles, onion and bacon jam and a mustard spread just hits the right spot.
One of their two pasta dishes, this is a pretty safe option if you like creamy pastas. Using gorgonzola cheese, I like that the base is a little funky. Other than that though, it’s a pretty unexciting dish without any major flaws. The candied walnuts were a nice touch but I did miss having some form of meat.
