At only S$11.50 before taxes, it includes 2 amazing scones served with butter, homemade cream and strawberry preserve, finger sandwiches, a slice of cake and coffee/pot of tea.

In the many times I've visited, their scones remain consistently good; warm, crunchy outside and fluffy inside. I also like that the scones are not flavored or added with ingredients like chocolate, blueberries or raisins. To me, scones are best to be plain so that they can be properly enjoyed with dollops of homemade cream and strawberry preserve.

And in my recent visit, I was happy to note that Fosters has finally replaced the fruit cake (not my kind of cake) to light cheese cake (totally my kind of cake)! No promises that the fruit cake will not make a return but let's enjoy the cheese cake while it lasts! They have also changed the ham sandwich to tomato ones, making this a vegetarian-friendly afternoon tea set.

Brunches is a vintage cafe which gives off similar vibes as AEIOU. It is just as beautifully decorated with interesting vintage items and also offers some of them for sale. The highlight here is to successfully get the hot seat behind the vintage car turned sofa that is located at the entrance. Service is prompt and nice.

Their high tea set is available daily with no time restriction. But only 10 sets are available each day. Beautifully presented in a bird cage, it also comes with a pot of tea and can be shared among two, making it one of the cheapest high tea set you can find.

Food wise, there were hits and misses. But then most high tea sets and even high end high tea buffets are the same. Within the set, I was disappointed with their mini cupcakes and scones and found their tarts average. But I liked their mini burgers and tiny cakes, which were served really cold and not too sweet, tasting a little like ice cream cakes. For the price, it's still worth a try, especially if you can get the special vintage car seat. And did l mention that's it's within a #pokestop too?

There are 5 choices each for Sweets and Savories. In frame is my choice of Mini Southern Burger, Pulled Pork Sandwich, Blood Orange Dome and Ivorie Dark Chocolate. Except for the Ivorie Dark Chocolate which was too sweet, I enjoyed the rest of the items in the tea set.

At the National Kitchen by VO, expect a tea set of Peranakan food presented with a foreign twist, like Otak and Buah Keluak on crostini, Hae Bee Hiam sandwich and Kueh Beng Kah cubes served in a dessert cup.

Frankly, there are hits and misses in the set, but if you want a place where you can enjoy beautifully presented Peranakan food with local coffee in a classy and intimate ambience at a price that will not break your bank account, this will be it.

After the tea, you can also take a walk around our National Gallery (free entry for Singaporeans/PR) and enjoy a nice evening view of Padang and beyond on the Padang deck (National Gallery, City Hall Wing, Level 6)

Prices are on the higher side (drip coffees and juices at SGD 9) but they do serve quality stuff with a nice presentation. Service is warm and it's a very nice place to while the afternoon away.

When I visited on a weekday afternoon, the place was almost empty and I had the luxury of feeling like a rich tai tai who was chilling in her beautiful home, surfing the net via the #freewifisg by the fireplace and being served by her personal butler.
☕️ Breakfast sets are available from 7.30 to 11.30am. All day breakfast options are also available.

The cafe consists of an indoor air conditioned area within the main school building and a separate outdoor pavilion area with a huge fan cooler.

Sitting within the beautiful pavilion (with lovely Peranakan tiled tables and wooden chairs), I spent a lovely leisure afternoon enjoying a plate of delicious and not so sweet Nonya Delights and Tea. It was such a tranquil and lovely place, a refreshing change from the cafes that we are used to.

They sell Nonya Food, Kuehs (Nonya confections using Pandan, Coconut and Gula Melaka as the main ingredients), local coffee and a limited selection of western drinks and cakes. Free wifi and washrooms are available too!

I will recommend you to share this among 2. One can have the coffee/tea while the other have ice water.
This is a nice place to chill and do some work on your lappy. Would be perfect if they provide free wifi.
