Holland Village
Price:~$15. Visited Sunday folks again to try something different. My friend and I got the hazelnut soft serve with 2 pieces of waffles and 2 toppings. We got the blueberry and buttercrunch(?).
The hazelnut soft serve was light - a little too light for me actually. The hazelnut aroma wasn't strong enough as it lasted only a second and before it's gone. The soft serve wasn't sweet enough either.
The waffles were fluffy on the inside, which was good. But otherwise there's nothing particularly special about the waffles, as expected from an ice cream parlour, rather than an actual waffles shop.
The toppings were delightful though.
At ~$15, this simple desert is on the steep side pricewise, especially given the rather small portion. Would only be back again if I have cravings for soft serve again!
Price:~$27. La nonna is a small restaurant located at holland V and it sells authentic looking Italian dishes including this risotto. The average price per dish is about $25 and so it is on the steep side. However, if you were to visit on the weekdays for lunch, there's the one for one deal which makes it all so worth it! (This 1-for-1 deal is quite a well-kept secret though because not many people know of it)
Risotto is a Italian rice dish cooked in creamy broth. I always enjoyed risottos, and this is no exception. The broth is thick and flavorful, though it can get a little gelat after a while. The rice also had a good texture as it was neither overly mushy nor overly hard.
Perhaps one thing it can improve on is to add some sotong to it to break the gelat-creamy-texture!
Price: $17.90 for a 250g striploin steak (comes with 2 sides). Verdict: would visit again if I'm at holland V and crave for some meat. Isteaks is a Aston-like concept establishment in holland v. I would say the food quality is slightly superior to what one would find at astons. The steak was okok nothing very special. The sides are also ok. Nothing much to complain about either of them, but nothing much to rave about either. Perhaps their biggest selling point is that they are relatively cheaper to what one would find at the other similar-cuisine establishments in holland V. If you don't dig steak, Isteak can still satisfy you in another way because isteak also serves chicken dishes and pasta at an even more affordable price of ~$9+-. Wouldn't find visiting again with friends!
