The old-adventurous me first found this "cafe" while canvassing the hipster Haji Lane. It was my first few weeks in this little red dot and this bowl of mee soto successfully brightened my day as I was suffering from home (food) sick. When I visited yesterday, the soto still tasted exactly the same as it was 5 years ago, with a piece of chicken and begedil. And not to forget my "teh oh peng ka dai".

I have to express this in the rawest of emotions that I felt: this is the BEST SHIT EVER. Call me a noob but I've never heard of Tenderbest/Tenderfresh. I had my first taste of it for dinner today and mmmm mmmm I am never looking at hawker Western food the same way again. The BBQ chicken was roasted to perfection, with a crisp and flavourful skin encasing succulent, tender and juicy meat. Ultimate indulgence.

I love the way they fried their toufu okie. So crispy on the outside and retaining the softness on the inside. Serving up hot at the #bumburestaurant . And while you are enjoying this plate of tahu telor, also be sure to soak in the lovely peranakan decor in the restaurant! #sgeats #singapore #supportlocal

Wasn't that bad on this plate. Sitting down at this pleasant cute small cafe. And there it was,my pasta Seasoned well and I really like the texture of how splendid in it! which is not soak with lots tomatoes, nor too creamy or rich. It's just balanced and the flavours combined. The linguini was just a perfect amount with the sauce. Just nice. The meatballs, just OK. Hmm, I could have want to taste other better menu, but I was too quick to pick this, to realised is quite mainstream in other restaurant's menu too. But again, it doesn't taste like any ordinary pasta. Quite luxurious and worth the price.

WHY IS IT SO GOOD?!?! I know my picture doesn't do it justice of that innocent looking demure fried chicken over there but people who tried it would understand me well.
Had the Half Spring Chicken (Ala-carte $7.10) to share and instantly regret it after the first bite! (Why I never order the WHOLE one 😢) Usually, I'm not the fried food + No Chicken Skin person. But no matter how my brain says NO, my hands and mouth couldn't stop eating that super flavourful lightly crisp skin. The meat was another "Wow" at how juicy and tender it was!
After our meal, we both understood the craziness of the queue and agreed that this was way finger licking good than the other places 😆

weren't as spicy as i expected them to be but still relatively spicy. they have other wings as well so do try them if you're up for the challenge!!

The "standard" portion (smallest) - $4.50. Comfort food. Beef is pretty fatty but it's the kind you can peel off easily if you don't want to eat the fats. Sufficient meat & intestines as well.

You usually see Mee Siam, Mee Rebus, Mee Goreng........but Mee Bandung?
My chance encounter with this dish dates back to my SAJC days where the only muslim stores in the canteen will serve this on alternate Fridays at limited portion (very limited edition hor?)
It then became a ritual on Thursdays evening after basketball practice to ask the Auntie whether it was available the next day. Sadly, Friday are always the longest day of the week for me without any breaks! I would often chiong down straight after class to check in for a bowl of this savoury sweet goodness!! So much so that the Auntie always remembers to specially keep a portion for me 😍Till then I couldn't find a similar ones comparable to her rendition! Yesterday, for supper I had Mr Prata Mee Bandung ( not much places sell it... so... see must try liao) unfortunately, it wasn't as good. This version was more spicy, sourish savoury kind. But really appetising gravy I would say! And it sure brought back some college memories of mine!! Just like Subway, the process of choosing your bread and ingredients is the same at Toasties. I had the roasted beef if I'm not wrong. It was yummeh! There is a combo that either comes with nachos or cheesy sausage with drinks and I chose the latter. The amount of cheese was generous!

But didn't manage to squeeze in all the food in a photo shoot! 😆

Weekend special Root beer batter fish and chips. The fish was melt-in-your-mouth moist blanketed in the crunchy root beer batter. The taste of root beer is mild enough not to overwhelm the dish. The fries were the right texture of crunchy but otherwise pretty ordinary. $18+

This place is supposedly to have the best biryani, and so why am I eating naan? Because it's one of the best in singapore (as according to my tastebud). It's the lightest and fluffiest naan I have ever tasted. Usually the naan is on the very doughy side, this naan is crispy one one side and soft on the other. And it's thin, not the usual thickness of a naan. So yummy you can have it on its own.
