Lime Restaurant’s annual LobsterFest is on till 13 Aug, with a whole line-up of unlimited servings of lobsters. My favourite was their Kam Heong Lobster, done very fragrant with the generous use of savoury dried shrimps and curry leaves. Meat was firm, fresh and juicy! Price includes unlimited servings of beer, chilled juices, specialty coffee and tea.

Seafood charcoal BBQ buffet with a sea view! Their selection includes marinated meats, seafood, vegetables skewers, pre-assembled mini shabu shabu that were easily heat up over the grill, and more. Food was pretty fresh, with a mix of hits and misses. Highlights for us are their Thai moo ping skewers and Tom Yum shabu. Offshore Bar & Grill sits at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal so it’s a bit more out of the way. Best to drive over!

Had bread, butter and small cups of creamy pumpkin soups to start off our lunch buffet at Rise. The menu is now fully digital and orders are via their friendly staff. You can’t really control the portions since it’s a la carte now, but they were actually pretty well portioned out for us (4 pax) and look at their effort in presentation! We didn’t manage to try everything on the menu but our favourites were the soups and side dishes.

We came a month ago when they were having the membership + weekdays promo which was very value! It was full house despite being a Monday, so please don’t be like us (we were on the waiting list and almost left before a table was finally available) and remember to make reservations beforehand!

Received a pair of complimentary buffet lunch vouchers and found ourselves here in Plate for the first time. The selection was small with some hits and misses, but service was friendly. Highlights of the buffet was the cold prawns, crabs and mussels. The tempura prawns were surprisingly good that we went back several times for more. They’ve a few ongoing promotions, like 1 for 1 for Citi card members and 50% for senior citizens.

Back again at the steamboat lane in Bugis 😂 We were here on an early weekend afternoon and Xiao Jun Gan Chuan Chuan Xiang is one of the few that opens earlier. The $ per pax doesn’t include drinks (there’s lots of watermelon to help quench your thirst), but is inclusive of the soup base which many of the other places down the lane charge separately for. We had the Yuan Yang option of ma la and herbal soup. Both were flavourful and not too salty that makes you thirsty.

Was looking forward to the skewers, but unfortunately, the majority of them were beef which we don’t take. Those we could have, the chicken wings and chicken, were marinated pretty well with a good rub of spices. Thankfully, they had quite a big range of fresh ingredients including crabs and a variety of clams, so it wasn’t too big of a problem! Make sure to also give their appetisers of liang pi and century egg tofu a try too as they were done very nicely. Liked that the space was airy and cooling with a strong enough air conditioning!

Walked up and down Liang Seah street, aka steamboat street now 😂, before finally settling with this place! They have an ala carte option as well but we went for the standard 90 minutes buffet (they’re quite strict during peak hours). If I didn’t remember wrongly, the premium buffet is around $32++, but it looks more worth if you take beef - we saw many tables ordering plates and plates of them! The trio soup base is an additional $8 top up per table with their mushroom base as a default. We went for tomato and ma la for the other two.

They have a good range of veg, seafood, etc. that is available for you to take, while their fish and meats are prepared on order. Ingredients were all pretty fresh I must say! Ma la broth was drinkable and the mushroom base was comforting.

Overall it’s affordable for its variety plus free flow drinks and ice cream, but it got really stuffy after awhile. Ventilation inside is not the best, it might be cooler sitting outside if you’re coming for dinner! Weekdays’ pricing per pax is $25.80++.

Tenpura Moriawase: Assorted Tempura Prawns/Fish/Vegetables. Pretty decent especially for a buffet! Wasn’t too oily and the batter was still rather light and crispy.

On Monday to Fridays, 12pm to 3pm, Ash & Elm has this semi-buffet concept which includes all-you-can-eat appetisers and desserts. We got our vouchers at more than half price off during the recent Chope Online Fest and finally dropped by to try. Our favorites were the cold cuts and 3 types of cheeses, while the other options were hits and misses. Most appetisers that day were cold ones, but it would have been nicer if there was a better balance of hot dishes. The dessert section was not bad, with the best part being their range of creamy ice cream! Overall a decent experience but this one try was sufficient for us.

Original price of this semi-buffet is $28 but it’s going at 20% off on Chope. There’s also an option of upgrading it to include a main to go along or to opt for their Saturday Buffet/Sunday Champagne Brunch.

Soft Shell Crabs. Loved how crispy these were even though we left it aside for quite some time! They were good on its own even without the accompanying tangy sauce.

Sashimi Moriwase: Assorted Raw Seafood with tuna, salmon, swordfish, yellowtail, cuttlefish and octopus. Easily the favourite of our meal! I was really surprised by how fresh and how generously portioned these sashimi were. Definitely something I’d re-order many times during my next visit!

Ippinmono: Appetisers. We had mini octopus, seaweed, potato salad and chawanmushi. Not much to shout about here, they’re pretty much what you’d expect. Saw something interesting on the menu though - apart from the normal chawanmushi, they also have kabocha chawanmushi, a pumpkin version!

Shin Minori’s somewhere I’ve been wanting to visit for a Japanese buffet, but haven’t got around doing it due to doubts about the spread and quality. I’ve got to say though, we were pretty impressed! We were so full but still, what we had was just a fraction of their menu that boasts over 150 items. My favs were the fresh sashimi moriwase, soft shell crabs and grilled skewers! They also have lots of sushi/maki/temaki options, fried items, noodles and rice, etc. Orders are prepared fresh and I especially liked how the fried items are served hot out of the fryer unlike some buffet places. Best of all, get the buffet 1 for 1 on Burpple Beyond!!
