Asian Delights
Nicely battered chicken cubes in a well-balanced sweet, tangy and savoury sauce. Comes with stir-fried kailan and sous vide egg with truffle oil (and salt). Super value for money, not to mention fabulous service.
Go for this if you want to try something new. Blanched then fried rice noodles mixed into the gravy result in a very interesting texture: smooth on the outside but with a soft crunch as you bite. Topped with perky prawns, bouncy shiitake mushrooms and tender pork slices, this was a very satisfying bowl.
The set comes with sous vide egg with truffle oil (and salt); though felt that this would have paired better without the truffle.
Among all the mains we tried, this was our favourite. Flavourful gravy clinging onto tender chicken pieces. Yumyum!
The auntie recommended this and so glad we listened. Packed with an umami punch, this might be a little too salty for some but I really enoyed this with rice.
This was not too bad, but we expected a more flavoursome sauce. Appreciated that the buah keluak flesh has been removed from the shell and made into balls so you donāt have to dig it out.
During lunch, you can get this as a set (main + drink) at no additional cost. I recommend topping up $0.80 for the super gao Barley (with beancurd skin)!
I like that the custard and glutinous rice layers are neither too firm nor too mushy!
More on the watery side, but still a generous bowl of comfort.
For lunch, you can get a drink for free with this.
These platters are great for sharing and to get a sense of what they have to offer. After trying both, we would most probably just order the Warrior's Chicken Curry ($10) and Farm Tempura ($4) with rice (white/red/blue nasi lemak; from $1) next time, and try other dishes on the menu.
Not the biggest fan of ordering army stew (as you can easily recreate it at home), but when the craving hits, the one here is filled to the brim with lots of ingredients in a moat of punchy and comforting broth.
I like how this Korean staple is so simple yet so flavoursome, and their rendition didn't disappoint. Chewy sweet potato noodles studded with wood ear mushrooms and lots of veggie strips. Wish there were some meat added into the mix for this price.
It's hard not to compare this place against Thien Kee with the considerable overlap between both concepts. With a more central location in Chinatown Point, expect prices here to be slightly higher, though it comes with more comfort. Hotpot wise, there's the broth and ingredients were pretty simple.
The chicken rice on the other hand was super flavourful. Additional bonus points for the tasty homemade chilli and ginger sauces.
Spot on steamed Hainanese chicken texture and flavour. A little pricey, but definitely a must-order!
