If you're itching for a refreshing caffeine fix on a hot day, stopping by Old Hen Coffee for a bottle of their famous cold brew would be a wise choice. Just a 3-minute walk from Farrer Park MRT station, this cafe dishes out light cafe bites, desserts and coffee. For something savoury, the Croque Monsieur comes highly recommended, as is the case for their Breakfast Toast -- a delicious combination of egg mayo, turkey bacon and cornflakes. Popping in for just a cuppa and some sweets? Choose from a selection of cakes and tarts on display. You'd be silly to leave without first getting hold of a bottle (or two!) of their Creamy White Cold Brew. Slightly sweet, creamy, and with little acidity, this is a truly refreshing beverage!
Joining the increasingly buzzy Keong Saik Road stretch is Banana Tree. A boutique dessert cafe concept from Korea, Banana Tree offers a variety of pretty desserts in a minimalist, spacious cafe setting. Its glass ceiling allowing streams of natural sunlight to create a warm, alfresco-esque cafe experience. Dessert items available include their Flower Paap (pudding in a flower pot), Som Som (cotton candy) lattes and Pot Bingsu (shaved ice). Go for their creamy signature Banana Flower Pot Pudding ($6.50) and their Red Bean Pot BingSu ($12). If you're in the mood for just coffee, go for their iced Banana Som Som Latte ($7), which comes topped with cotton candy!
Virgin trip to the kith Cafe and being a oh-so-not adventurous person, i ordered the Big Breakfast. I mean, what can go wrong with a big breakfast right?! And bingo, this was a one fantastic big breakfast. Ok first, portion. Portion was huge. Ok, maybe not that huge but satisfying to the tummy. Salad was ok (i dont rlly like greens so), the multigrain bread i chose was super crisp and super good! Tasted great alone and even better with the salted butter. Scrambled eggs were done really well and the bacon has just the right amount of saltiness and crisp to it but nothing too wow about it. What i really liked most about the big breakfast was the spicy tomato beans and bratwurst sausage! A powerful kick of flavour that lingers in my mouth. N!CE^^ For just $17 for a big breakfast its definitely worth a go for people who wants a big hearty meal & be satisfying to their tums ^^
