Sweet Treats 🎀
Say Chiizu, a cheese toast originating from Thailand is here in Singapore! Known for its iconic stretchy cheese pull, the cheese is made with specially imported Japanese milk and mozzarella that is stuffed within the crisp Hokkaido milk toast. The cheese is slightly sweet, creamy and savory — all the goodness in one pocket toast!
Enjoy 1 for 1 on all toast ($3.8 - Original, Charcoal, Chocolate) at the following branches:
16 Jan - VivoCity and 313 Somerset, 17 Jan - White Sands, 18 Jan - The Clementi Mall.
The Carvery presents the Feliz Navidad from now till 1 January 2018, which means Merry Christmas in Spanish! One of the dessert selection is the trifle dressed with a salted butterscotch sauce, crunchy chocolate feuilletine and the almond nougat, turron. One of my favorite flavors of this classic trifle dessert at The Carvery!
During this festive season, lunches cost $45 & upwards and dinners cost $58 & upwards.
Hello to another durian season of the year! Here’s 王中王 (King of King) and 猫山王 (Premium Mao Shan Wang) which are both bittersweet with an intense creamy texture. I can’t decide which I prefer as both are equally satisfying 😋 The Durian Story imports their durian from the plantation on a daily basis and you can follow them on fb/ig to find out the daily prices. Reservations are highly recommended!
Egglets with a scoop of ice cream that is good for an afternoon tea snack, or it can even make a meal for those with a sweet tooth! We tried a few of the egglets such as matcha and pork floss, but the Charcoal Cheese stood out with the generous amount of melted mozzarella cheese that introduces a hint of savoury taste.
This month's soft serve at @brotherbirdsg is the Durian (pictured) and Lotus Soft Serve. I'm a fan of durian-anything and while the durian flavor wasn't that strong in the soft serve itself, be sure to pay attention to the D24 pulp that is laced around the rims with the coconut crunch.
The Mango Tian is an excellent way to end the meal — white chocolate yoghurt layered with mango gelee, topped with fresh fruits and crumbles. This dessert in a cup won my heart with its contrasting tastes and textures that complemented well with one another.
The tartness of the calamansi & lime zest custard and the bitterness of the chocolate tart shell of the Calamansi Chocolate Tart is a match made in heaven. This no-bake tart was super satisfying with those chocolatey notes but did not feel heavy on my stomach with the refreshing custard. Topped with torched meringue and dehydrated calamansi slices, I was glad it wasn't overly sweet and had the flavors well balanced out.
One more day to get the Chamomile with Torched Ginger Blossoms from Birds of Paradise at the Singapore Tea Festival 2017. It's happening tomorrow from 10am - 10pm at Ion Orchard Level B4.
And as always, BOP never disappoints. The whiff of camomile filled our mouths on our first mouthful, but the hint of ginger comes slow and steady with more of it.
Houjicha Soft Serve ($8 for large portion with warabi mochi topping at $1.5) — I'd say go for the soft serve and skip the toppings!
BrotherBird is now serving Banana Softserve with Salted Egg Bursts — the hot and cold combi with the chewy lava mochi balls is a perfect pairing. It's quite filling but I always seem to have space for them!
Of course, their all time favorite Cookie Butter Softserve is also still available ;)
By recommendation of the staff, we had the ice cream sundae which came generously with three scoops of salted caramel ice cream — so thick, rich and definitely 100% salted caramel! Hot fudge is drenched over the side with some caramelized crunchy popcorn and nuts. This is definitely a sinful treat and best shared amongst 3-4 people.
Santol Sweet Delight — a cotton fruit that reminded me of a firm soursop fruit and I enjoyed the tart tasting fruit with some salty notes.
