Simple Meals
Absolute delight near the office from this nostalgic old school bakery. This gem does fuss free small breads and cakes at prices you can hardly find around Singapore. They added color (just like the sprinkles) to a mundane work day ✨
Go to place in the East for coffee and bakes 🙌🏻
Today I had a sip of my dining companion’s nitro cold brew and am sold to get it the next time we come. The smoothness and in her words “nuttiness” of the brew was very pleasant and a steal for the price tag IMHO.
An impromptu dinner date with my empress dowager and I knew she was up for some pies in an unfamiliar setting. The spot reminds me of those causal pizza joints/ takeaways you watch in Hollywood films, semi-vicarious living anyone?
We had 3 slices of vegetarian pizzas (cheese and spinach mushrooms) along with a cider and we were done quickly. I loved the sweet chilli and ranch sauce which I peculiarly paired with the crust. All together a place to try out but there wasn’t something in particular that would have me coming back repeatedly.
(Stall 01-73: 美珍咖啡/爷爷咖椰) while your dining companion brave the queue for the other local delicacies here, you could get this as a snack for the Kaya is made from scratch by the owner, homely tasting with a slab of butter; the delight from this local breakfast staple hits home on all fronts.
My family & I are creatures of habit when the default answer to “where do you want to go for dinner?” on weekends is: Bedok marketplace.
I mean I can never get enough of Mr Kneady’s sourdough pizzas and as of late the kickass Tom yum soup concoction, with chilli padi - you have been warned, was something I craved and dreamt about. I am serious you’ve got to try it to believe it. My family with more asian palates would have their asian noodles and dumpling soup fixed here. This is clearly our favourite place in the east for a fuss free, causal dinner.
Reliable Mexican grub that provides a flavour party on the palate!
Friend said these were some of the best egg tarts she had.
Friend was right about the flaky crust of these delightful snacks.
What an unexpected find at the neighbourhood’s bus interchange
Pizza that never fails!
You can order easily from their WhatsApp channel to takeaway in the current phase (find it the link via their Facebook page)
When Dad buys back my new found favourite Teochew Kuehs on a WFH day - simple moments to appreciate (!!)
Precious cheap thrills to appreciate before they one day retire from business; the soft homely kueh skins here are truly a hallmark of this establishment that has been in business since 1974.
My purple Yam kueh had a purist yam paste that was so satisfying, for savoury variants the soon kueh and png kuehs (pictured, plated) are no brainers.
What new circumstances we’ve all had to adapt too- but I’m trying to be thankful for them. Take this banana cake for tea on a nice weekend afternoon after a trying week of (adjusting to and) working from home.
While this was an affordable option for 4 slices of banana cake- it only left me wondering where I could find better (/the best) banana cakes in Singapore.
Unexpectedly amazed at how good these flaky Chinese pastry was; the red bean actually tasted like red bean instead of the sugary purple paste you get from run of the mill red bean buns, pastries etc all over Singapore.
