This tart is something else. Not only were the berries themselves incredibly fresh and tart, the biscuit-like crust were enough to win us over. And also the vanilla chantilly 😍
Tastiest dish of the night. So so so good and it's been a while since i've had such an exceptional dish. Some dishes are technically great, but once in a while an exceptional dish, on top of everything, makes you feel differently inside. This was one of them for me.
Not my favourite dish the first time i came, and it still isn't now. It's an exceptional burger no doubt (pillowy, buttery sesame seed buns, crunchy purple cabbage) but the pulled pork was a tad stringy and.. canned tuna-esque. Good flavour though
This was some indescribable pairing!! It was a crazy explosion but also balance of pretty strong flavours. Natural sweetness of the plump leek, saltiness and roasty brown butter, finished off with nuttiness and variation in texture from the hazelnuts. Classic case of the whole being greater than the sum if its parts. Veggies can be pretty damn amazing dishes and shine on their own.
It was $15 per serving so we ended up ordering just one. Since i had this on my first visit in 2013 (wow has it been almost 3 years) i let him have it. He liked it.
This was so, so good and will probably go down as one of the best desserts i've had in a long while. The goat cheese ice cream was very creamy and nicely sweetened, but still had that recognisable grassy tartness. Went nicely with the blood orange segments.
Closing with a simple cold dessert.
A treat for the eyes as Kobayashi-san skillfully sliced the leek and chopped up the slabs of fatty tuna right in front of us. Only with a sushi counter experience.
Sea eel - sweet, porous and spongy without being dry. Another one of my favourite pieces, as i truly enjoy the natural sweetness of the fish.
Doesn't look like much but the fishball fell apart into meaty, juicy chunks upon chewing. The soup was steaming hot - nothing screams comfort like this bowl of goodness. I guess that's what you get when you make a fishball out of sashimi-grade tuna.
Delicous. Markedly better than the one at Raffles as we both agreed this was less "cooked" and thus was less rubbery/firm but still maintained flavour.
