Celebratory Cakes! 🎉
Because my favourite cake yet deserves a double mention. Check out the perfect cake to cream to fruit ratio! ❤️🍰
Here's the cake my parents bought for my birthday this year and I absolutely loved it. 😍 I've heard many good things about Flor's cakes, and I wasn't the least bit disappointed. The sponge was light, soft and moist, and Flor's website states that it doesn't use any artificial raising agents so it's all down to the perfectly whipped eggs. The fresh cream was fragrant and not overly sweetened. The cake was also so generously studded and topped with fresh fruit that every mouthful had the perfect cake to cream to fruit ratio. I can never understand why some bakeries scrimp on fruit in their FRUIT cakes. Like, really??? Angst aside, this cake now tops my list and I'm definitely going back for mooooore.
I think that's what this cake is called. Oops. This is a simple sponge cake layered with strawberries and slathered in fresh cream. It's one of the 4 cakes that Paris Baguette launched for Mothers' Day this year, and comes topped with a chocolate flower in pretty pink. The fresh cream is really yummy! It's so light and fragrant. 😋 ($40 nett)
We all know someone who hates eating fresh cream. For me, that would be my mom and grandma. This cake is perfect for them because it contains minimal cream, yet the cake didn't taste dry because the sponge layers are soft and moist. The cake also contained a lot of mango (slices of mango wedged between the cake layers as well), which were fresh and sweet. And arranged prettily in the shape of a rose atop the cake ;) UOB card members get 20% off. (500g, $32 nett)
This was one indulgent cake, with layers of soft moist chocolate sponge, velvety mousse and tart raspberry sauce. The ganache poured over the cake lends a fudgy, chewy texture to the cake, making it extra decadent. :) flavours are rich and bittersweet from the dark chocolate, perfect for the chocolate addict. But the rest of us needn't fear cause the refreshing tartness of the raspberry helps to cleanse our palates :) this cake managed to feed 8 girls who just had dinner. (Medium, $45 nett)
This delicious cheesecake was dense and smooth, not too sweet and full of the tanginess of the cream cheese and citrus. The crust was buttery and crisp, and not too hard that it shatters when cut haha. The strawberries sitting atop the cake were also fresh and sweet. Yummy and affordable! There was enough cake for the 5 of us. (300g, $22.90++)
