Buah Keluak - Rich & earthy Buah Keluak ice cream on a bed of salted caramel, chocolate crumble & chilli specks, topped with warm milk chocolate espuma. An interesting take on the key ingredient in ayam buah keluak, cleverly made into a dessert by Chef Malcolm Lee.
I must say that buah keluak and chocolate goes so well together & I enjoyed this unique dessert.
Crab meatballs & bamboo shoots in rich chicken broth. I always order Bakwan Kepiting whenever I'm at a Peranakan restaurant. Candlenut's BK was decent. Out of the many BK I have had, Chilli Padi's version left the deepest impression on me. PS: Where else can I find good Bakwan Kepiting? Hmmm.
Braised pork belly in preserved soy beans gravy. The pork belly's really tender with distinct layers of fats! The gravy goes very well with rice & I wiped my plate of rice clean. So much for trying to abstain from eating too much carbs! 😑 A must order if you visit Candlenut!
Chap Chye - Braised cabbage with mushrooms, sweet & dried beancurd, pork belly and black fungus in rich prawn stock. One of the dishes I will order whenever I'm in a #Peranakan restaurant.
Peranakan food! One of my fav cuisine! The food at Candlenut is good. No MSG added but still bursting with flavours. Ambience is good and the service's great!
