Salad made of mangoes, avocado, ham, assorted vegetables, and topped with a slice of bak gua and Japanese sesame sauce - thoughtfully put together by an amazing woman who wants to make sure I enjoy my salad and get enough nutrients at the same time, and who loves me more than I do.

Crayfish, chilli prawns, spicy prawn mee.... french toast with honey, luncheon meat, scrambled eggs, pan fried dumplings...rhings you do when your parents are not at home..

Made from porridge and corn flour... this traditional Hokkien dish is passed down for generations and we are really lucky to be able to taste this succulent dish all these years. It tastes like Korean rice cake, just that it is much more spicy - we always sniff and perspire while eating this - very shiok. Still learning to cook this!

This dish is definitely worthy of being one of Singapore's Best Makan! It is created by one of Singapore's pioneers, well, almost a pioneer.

My mum is a genius. I told her I wanted salad for dinner and she managed to whip up something like that - colorful presentation, interesting in the mix, refreshing in taste, and definitely an enjoyable dining experience. I asked her to name this dish and she said it's called "Alicia's Salad".

There are mangoes, strawberries, tomatoes, eggs, organic yogurt bits (which are delicious by the way!), assorted vegetables, roast chicken, her secret creamy salad sauce (she refuses to divulge the flavor and says the recipe is "woman's perspiration) and goodness-knows-what... I am,the most blissful person in the world!
