Hawker Treats
Steaming and glossy black carrot cake cut to the smallest pieces possible so that as much of the carrot cake is infused with the wok taste, black sauce and chilli, as possible. With just a little chai po (Chinese-style preserved turnip or preserved/salted radish) and crispy bits of eggs (yes, eggs should be crispy), this is a perfect plate of Singapore fried carrot cake for me and every mouthful is worth your calories!

I seldom aspire to endeavour long queues for anything, but I was suddenly inspired to do so for this beautiful bowl of Teochew style minced pork noodles, now rated 1 Michelin star. Good job, proud of my fellow Singaporeans!
My colleagues and I took turns to queue, in between sour plum drinks, iced lemon tea and steamed dumplings. Chef and his team were very organised and speedy in their tasks. Still, it took 45mins.
Didn't regret the sport, and we were rewarded with the right bite of noodles in the signature vinegar sauce rinsed with chilli, tender slices of liver and pork, chewy meat balls, my favourite minced pork, fried sole fish, and local's all-time favourite wanton. We wolfed down each of our own unique bowl of goodness in 20mins.

It is not as spicy as it looks, and appears to be a favourite dish for some of my friends. I'm not a fan though but enjoyed the dish on a rainy and leisurely Monday. No more blues.
The toast was really warm and super crispy thin! It was like those of Ya Kun's, but somehow I prefer these ones, probably because of the traditional setting we were in, and also the spread of butter and kaya seemed more generous. A lovely breakfast to wake up to during a relaxing staycation!
It has been nice waking up early these few days and enjoy a leisure breakfast here before work. Feel much 'healthier than before! Don't you love been in Singapore and being a Singaporean?

Fried to crispy. It's not bad but too oily for my liking. Probably a one-time experience for me.
