The whole point of this post isn't to laud Macs with an over-enthusiastic review brimming with optimism about the current state of its fish burgers but rather, a case in point about how even if you're handed the shittiest meal in the whole world, it can be made better (and worth writing about) if you found yourself a nice little spot in the evening sun, nowhere near the premises of MacD's where it reeks of grease and table sanitisers, listen to the sound of water gushing from its source nearby (in this case, sadly, a man-made water fountain)... and then watch the world pass you by, all decisions made consciously on your own... sounds like a terribly lonely meal but just what you need to turn a forgettable experience into something quite extraordinary.
Atop marinated tomatoes, parmesan shavings and served on bread. (Thank goodness for online menus!) This was a really satisfying start to the meal here at Concetto, even if the mozzarella wasn't the best, according to my partner. It was light on the palette yet still remained flavourful. "I really enjoyed this dish," one of the three Masterchef judges would say.
This was... baby spinach, corn, avocados, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, beetroots & brown rice crispies tossed with apple cider vinaigrette and an additional order of grilled chicken breast👍👍👍
It's got a long name (can't remember what it is exactly) on the Thursday menu for sure, but anything with "four types of cheese" in it will always catch my eye. The pumpkin in the pasta was what inspired my Too Much Pumpkin Penne last night really.. Pumpkin is great cause it's naturally sweet and adding it to any dish makes it sweet but not too sweet, which essentially makes it even greater than great. This was mac n cheese but layered in flavour with the addition of pumpkin and heat from the pepper we added ourselves. For me, it's always "the more pepper the better". Therefore this dish I thoroughly enjoyed, even if I was too stuffed to finish it towards the end of my meal 😧
Was so good. So good we couldn't stop ourselves the moment it was placed on the table before us. SPR•MRKT serves this one with shaved parmesan and kelp. This will definitely not be the last time I'll be there! *note to self: came on a Thursday.
So I was feeling really down the other day when I got home and had this urge to make something. Whenever I bake something from scratch I always have a companion (usually my sister) but this time I was determined to get it right on my own. The result: many little victories coming right out from the oven. I did it!
