Premium pricing prawn mee at macpherson area. I strongly recommend if one is bringing a tourist to Singapore to blow his or her mind on a quality bowl of fresh prawn mee

In recent years, popularity of vegetarian restaurants has sent the prices skyrocketing due to limited supply. However, at this elderly home in the heartland of Seng kang, we found this really affordable vegetarian restaurant at the second floor of the home, dishes were really affordable at $4 and of great variety.

At $5.50, it’s pretty worth it for substantial amount of pork parts given. A pretty good place for family dinners as they serve many different versions of black chicken soup too!

Finally able to squeeze in some time for the famous Michelin starred noodles. It was a 15 minutes wait but it was so worth it. The noodles were so tangy and chili went so well with its dark soy sauce. What surprised me the most was its tender and large servings of chicken that came with some slurp worthy skin which eventually made me finish the noodles in 10 minutes. At $4.80, this gotta be the cheapest Michelin fare you can find in the world!

The ribs were large and generous, with the champagne sauce fairly spread all over itself. Not sure whether the almonds are supposed to be on the dish but it added a crunchy taste to the pork ribs. Not a dish that one must try but never less a decent one. It has the right sweetness and cooked to the right texture. ($12.80, $18.80)

It was meant to feature 4 vegetables but I can't really determine the fourth one. It has long beans, lady finders and eggplant. The food has a unique taste due to the different textures by the individual components. The crispy taste of the silver fish, softness of the eggplant and slight crunchiness of the long beans allowed the whole dish to be very refreshing with every bite. Moreover it was laid with Thai chilli sauce and made the flavors combination an interesting one for me. ($8.80, $12.80)

Basically a hor fun without dark soy sauce and layered with bean sprouts and fish slices. It was above average but it couldn't stand out from the rest of the amazing dishes. ($6.80, $12.80)

A well-balanced dish whose sambal wasn't overwhelming, instead it was rather sweet and spicy. The Sotong felt fresh, easy to chew and plentiful. Overall a good dish to complement the fish head steamboat! $11.80, $17.80

Priced from $38, $48, $68, this fish head steamboat uses the premium dragon grouper fish that the main branch does not offer. The fish meat was really thick and worth it's money. However, as this is a different fish, the taste is slightly different from what one is generally expecting. I still enjoyed it's flavorful soup that was sweet and had my favorite flatfish!

Similar to the concept of Blackball's, nine fresh sells deserts at a much affordable price. It has the refreshing taste as it not only offers glass jelly version but also ai yu jelly. It has the Singaporean taste rather than a Taiwanese one which I don't really mind as the latter proved to be a little too sweet at times. I do hope that in the future they serve up warm deserts though as I can't really deal with cold food for now.

At $7.90 before service charges and taxes, this expensive fishball noodles proved itself to be of worth 8 stars out of 10. The noodles were well cooked, it had no starchy taste and chili was acceptable. The fishballs were of those traditional ones where they are a little salty. Fish cakes were okay and I enjoy tasting the freshness of it. Price tag was not to be complained as what you are paying for is mostly the venue and service that they are providing, in overall the service level that I experienced was pretty high!

Situated opposite pasir panjang mrt station at a corner coffee shop was this unpretentious looking prawn Mee stall. With a long queue at 9am, I just can't help it to get myself a serving. Prawns were really fresh and its chilli is the sambal belechan kind and it really gives chilli lovers a kick and a shiok time. Sure to be back to try out their soup version!
