Really good food and an intimate ambiance makes for a perfect date night. Cicheti (Chi-keh-tee), located along Kandahar St, serves perfect woo-fired pizzas and hearty pastas. Have the Bruschetta to start, then move in the Bismarck, a crispy pizza topped with a gorgeous runny egg, the pappardelle ragu, and the delectable ciopino. The ambiance just right, not too stiff and not too casual, with excellent service.

Order a bottle of wine, and start with the mind-blowing Sea Urchin & Squid Ink pudding. As Burppler Jibs puts it perfectly, 'I can only tell you to try for yourself to know what it means to be lost for words at a dish like this.' Be adventurous and go for the Beef Tripe, it is unbelievably tasty and crispy on the edges. Finish off with the light-as-air doughnuts, and you're in for a great night.

Eamirada's an institution that's been around for about 20 years, and is perfect for convenient, awesome meal in town. In a nicely dim, romantic setting, you'll enjoy their escargots, skewered meats, and one if the best paellas around. The tiramisu is a hit favorite, don't leave without trying it.

A hidden gem with a loyal following, Cacio e Pepe serves good quality Italian food minus the pretense. Enjoy a lovely meal with your date in this cosy neighborhood joint, without having to venture into the crowds. Start with the portobellos, and try either the tagliatelle with scallop in truffle cream sauce, or the squid ink risotto. While pasta may not seem deserving of a $20+ price tag, these are very good, and are more worth it than the pizzas here. Finish off with the oozing chocolate lava cake, and leave this gem with a smile on your face.
