Filipino LOMI (Egg Noodle Soup)
Is it cold outside? So cold your breath turns misty when you exhale? Your body involuntarily shakes to compensate for the dropping temperature? Want a quick (and satisfying) fix to warm your body and ease your soul?
How about some Lomi soup? š
This Filipino mainstay is a soup of egg-y proportions. Made up of egg noodles, this dish comes perfectly prepared with both veggies and meat alike. Cooked with cabbage, carrots and garlic (this one had celery and mushroom to boot!) with slivers of pork (sometimes chicken) and kikiam balls and shrimp, this gooey thick soup is better than your average chicken noodle soup! š
Cornstarch with water thickens the broth while adding freshly beaten egg before serving the delicious quarter-inch egg noodles piping hot is what makes this an undeniably gratifying soup! Steamy, heartwarming and just plain home-y is what you'll get with each slurp and sip of lomi soup!
Add a dipping sauce made up of calamansi (a lime cousin) and some soy sauce with chili to dip the meat slices or add a ZING to your soup!
Ask your Filipino friend for this next time rather than your lumpia or pancit go-to favorites! This is the noodle Bomb! š

Who ever said fried tilapia can be boring?? Well if you're sick and tired of the same old tilapia that you just throw in a wok filled deep with oil and fry it, well you should head over to Mess Filipino Moderne for a fresh new look and taste for this filipino favorite.
Mesa's take on scallops comes with crunchy coconut bits instead of the usual cheese. But honestly I prefer cheese :)
