As the Hong Kong weather warms up, all we need is a cold drink. A cold Yuen yang from the cafe that created the drink. Good balance of coffee and tea. Just nice for this heat 😎
☀️Because Bo Luo Bao w a thick slab of butter is not my thing, I got the Char Siew Bo Luo instead. Wasn't expecting Char Siew Mayo though.. Normally I wouldn't take mayo either but their mayo is surprisingly light and more on the acidic side? (Like stronger in tartaric acid??) Definitely a better rendition for non butter lovers. 😝 Yuen Yang was a bit too strong on the bitter coffee side. This place has a grand entrance and the insides is just as comfortable and grand. The dim sum here is more on the pricey side but definitely good in terms of quality and variety. They do not do dim sum like any others. Char siew Bao has goose in it. Siew Mai has a quail egg on top. Glutinous rice is some mixture of fried rice w glutinous rice and steamed. There is this teriyaki beef fried wonton and lemongrass prawn paste(definitely not Chinese?) And the thing is that they surprisingly work! Quite an interesting place. It's crowded for breakfast but quiet for dinner!
As you can see the char siew & roasted goose is alr half eaten by the time our noodles came. The goose was so good! Crisp skin and juicy, tasty meat. The noodles is a must order as well. Cooked in goose fat, it has all the flavour you need and just enough bite! Char siew was on the sweet side and the meat is not as flavourful. But the goose is definitely the star. Crunchy exterior and chewy interior. If you have had bad egglets before (that's cake like/ dough like) , their egglets will taste god like to you..
I have no idea how to take photo of noodles drenched in cheese sauce. It sounds like it may be very jelak but actually it isn't! It's more creamy w a slight note of cheese. The egg is fried to perfection, runny yolk and tasty egg white. The pork neck could be more tender but it was really flavourful! The only time I'll be paying for instant noodles...

Purple Sweet Potato mochi that's only available during the cold season! Mochi is Q, soft and melts in your mouth slightly. Sweet potato filling is not overly sweet and just pure sweet potato goodness! ☺️☺️ #burpple #hongkong #streetfood #長州芒果糯米滋

A classic Hong Kong dish. Clay pot rice w lup cheong & chicken. We ordered a clay pot rice w pork slices as well. And cleared a plate of oyster duck omelette before any of it came. Lup cheong here is more on the salty side and has a strong Chinese wine taste. (Very different from what I deal w) and you are free to add as much soy sauce as you want to your rice. Hot rice w crunchy burnt rice is always a plus point for the chilly weather!
Hong Kong is a very walkable city. Put food into the equation and walking around doesn't seem that bad. When you're tired, just pop into one of their food stores! Our before dinner pit stop because walking from mongkok to yau ma tei was a bit tiring. Their version of the milk pudding is super milky. Unlike the milky egg white pudding offered at other "dairy companies". Definitely good for ppl that love milk but I prefer milky egg white pudding rather than milk milk pudding!
