One sweltering Saturday morning, I decided to have brunch over at Apartment 1B. Not wanting anything too heavy, my companion and I decided to split two starters that they were supposedly known for -- crabcakes and baked samosas. We requested that they split our one order of crabcakes to two smaller servings so that we wouldn't have to go through all the trouble of splitting the dish. Half a serving was just perfect as we had one fat crabcake each with a light vinaigrette salad underneath and finely cut potato crisps ontop and some wasabi mayo. It certainly went well with our baked samosas which was very creamy and light as it was not fried. A perfect place to catch up with friends over good food and coffee or wine. When dining here, request for the second floor as it has a much more homey ambience!
One Autumn afternoon, my godmother and I decided to take the bus from the apartment to the wharf to treat ourselves to some seafood delights at Scoma's. We ordered their Chopino (to share of course!) and our robust waiter (who looked and sounded like he stepped out of a Mafia film) suggested we pair it with their crabcakes so we went with that. We ordered the house white wine to go with it and their selection was perfect with the food and the day. Scoma's is worth braving the sea of tourists for!
