I wasn't so keen on this $6.20 cup of cold brew as I felt it was way too acidic. I believe this was brewed with El Salvador beans if I remember correctly, and while I appreciated that delicious crisp nutty flavor that comes from Latin American beans, it wasn't smooth like I expected cold brew to be.
Perhaps a dash of milk might have helped with that acidity. Still, it was refreshing and enjoyable, and very worth it since Jewel Coffee runs in-house 1-for-1 promos from time to time.
PS. They don't have straws here. Was mildly irritated by that fact. Was on the way to lecture and didn't want to risk an uncovered drink splashing around.

Keeping up with a coffee a day when the afternoon slump hits. The 1-for-1 drinks promotion from Monday-Friday, 3-5pm is still on for the week but they seem to be perpetually out of skim milk so I got the soy milk. I loved the Brazil roast yesterday, but they’ve already changed the beans and it was a choice of Ethiopia or El Salvador. This was with the El Salvador and I didn’t really enjoy it. It’s got a slightly sourish and mostly bitter taste profile, with little to no fruitiness or chocolate taste. Will steer clear of these next time and keep my fingers crossed for Brazil beans.
Another one for one promotion from 3-5pm this week at Jewel Coffee. Unfortunately they were out of skim milk, so I topped up $1 for soy. I went with the Brazil roast, and felt that this was actually the best drink I’ve had at Jewel so far.
With the Brazil roast, my cappuccino had a chocolatey flavour with a nutty finish. Hmm. Bit expensive for 8oz, but not too bad if you have a coffee kaki during the 1-for-1 promo.
Ordered a hot cappuccino with soy milk from Jewel and chose their Brazil beans (Hazelnut, Cocoa & Honey characteristics). Nothing special, but I much preferred this to the Sumatra cold brew which was really sour. It does have a slight cocoa and nutty taste and wasn’t bitter. Not bad for a mid-afternoon caffeine fix although not very strong coffee. Still not coffee I would buy at full price.
*Jewel Coffee is running their 1 for 1 promotion this week from 3-5pm across all their outlets.
Not a fan of Jewel Coffee but this was a treat from a friend and it was 1-for-1 so we effectively got two cold brews for $6.20.
Today’s cold brew was made from Jewel’s Sumatra blend, which ended up tasting really sour and slightly bitter despite it being a cold brew. The brew smelt really roasty and nice but I couldn’t stomach finishing the whole thing due to the sourness. My colleague did enjoy it a whole lot more than I did. I’d stick to the milk coffees at Jewel, but will only order them during 1-for-1 promotions as I don’t think their drinks nor service are good enough to pay full price for.
Ordered a hot matcha latte (U.P. $6.10) from
Jewel Coffee as there was a 1 for 1 drinks promotion from 3-5pm. Comes in one standard size like a Starbucks Grande.
The froth on top of the cup was dark green and very promising. Taste and fragrance of the matcha is quite strong - I enjoyed it. Matcha lovers would probably appreciate the strength, but my colleague likened it to grass.
However, I did find the latte too sweet after a couple of mouthfuls. The drink itself isn’t as dark green as the foam and more milky light green-ish. Would probably order again if there was 1 for 1 but with less sugar.
