After falling under the spell of their Tonkotsu Ramen on my previous visit (what a great broth!), I returned to explore the other options. After much deliberation, I picked the Buta Kimuchi Ramen (RM19.90). Ok, this was really spicy and extremely "kimchi-fied" - perfect for die-hard kimchi fans. But to me, their Tonkotsu ramen remains the champion.
And because the buta belly-wrapped enoki mushrooms (yup, they do resemble squids in the above pic) and bacon-wrapped asparagus were so enticing and reasonably priced at RM8.90, I had to have them too. Each order gets you two sticks per type which is a major steal, don't you agree?
"Ikou" is a decent casual Japanese restaurant offering assorted types of Japanese cuisine ranging from udon, soba and ramen to yakitori and sashimi.
We liked the Salmon Avocado Salad (RM16.90) as it's great for sharing and had a light soy-based dressing with a hint of wasabi in it.
The Tonkotsu Ramen (RM16.90) was the standout dish of the night for us. And it had everything to do with the opaque-with-richness pork-based broth. I'm not kidding when I say every one of our gigantic bowls was drained dry.
Smoke-scented from grilling, the Uzura Bacon (RM8.90) came across as a cute and yummy version of bacon and (quail) eggs. Another winner in my opinion.
To be honest, the Hokkai Don (RM22.90 regular size) that had raw salmon, tuna, prawn and salmon roe arranged on sushi rice was only so-so. It's a dish you can skip since there are better options available.
