Yakitori stand at the corner of an alleyway!? I just had to check it out. Street food has always been one of my favourite things to explore. Not only is it cheap, but it’s also delicious.

Cold weather, piping hot skewers, what a perfect combination! The skewers were neatly laid out, either grilled over charcoal fire or cooked using a yakitori automation machine. Just pick whatever you want to eat on the spot and enjoy the smoky-sweet flavours of freshly grilled yakitori. Remember to hold on to your sticks, as you’ll need them for payment later.

Each skewer costs only ¥150, with a variety of options including pork, pork offal, chicken, and more. Some had a wild taste, some were fatty, and some simply felt homey. I particularly liked the pork intestine and chicken tail which both were rich and fatty, though eating too many can get a bit jelak. As for the meats, the chicken was more tender and had a cleaner flavour compared to the pork.
