From the people who brought to you Don's Pies, Bazuka Yakibuta serves up "explosive grilled pork" as expressed in its brand name. I saw a post on this donburi and I wanted to try it since they have an outlet at One@Kent Ridge which is in the proximity of school. I had the combination Donburi which included both Crackling and Caramalised Roast Pork ($9.80), plus I added an onsen egg ($1) to bathe my rice bowl with some egg yolk sauce ^^

Unfortunately the taste of this did not meet my expectations at all. Perhaps it was a little late into afternoon so the roast pork and charsiew was served cold, so was the onsen egg but that didn't matter as much. I think the saving grace might have been the dried chili which contained a bit of hebe and shallots. Honestly, it tasted like an upmarket hawker store, but I wouldn't even say that cause some hawkers serve better pork. The sauce was also too salty even though it was drizzled in small amounts over the rice. Sadly, I wouldn't come back anymore :( if I was in the area and was craving for charsiew rice, I think I would visit the Kopitiam upstairs to get my fix.

Heartiness (portion): 3/5
Tastiness (product): 2/5
Worthiness (price): 2/5

Aiyah! It looked so promising 😧
It was pretty good and not cold when I had it haha. Maybe it's a one-time thing!
Zhihui Lim Ooh.. There's hope then 😄
Mine was cold too. The egg was good but the pork loses to many great Char Siew stalls out there, which's a shame since it looks so inviting on their slab.😔
Aye perhaps I went at the wrong time - it was close to 3+ when I got it Zhihui Lim
I would have to agree with Cephas Lim though that the charsiew is inferior in quality. Looking forward to trying Char, hopefully some time soon! Veronica Phua
