Besides the chicken steak, Urban Corner also offers a lightly battered dory as one of the five mains you can choose from under the Burrple set.
I was intrigued to find plaques on the walls of Urban Corner for awards to Cafe Wok Inn. Residents of Toa Payoh will find this name familiar as it was a stall run by Michael, a Chinese uncle who speaks in a British accent, which serves some of the best fish & chips I can remember. From what I could recall, Michael had a falling out with his sous chef and shifted elsewhere. He also entered into several joint ventures to expand his business. I think Master Chippery with several locations around the island is one of these joint ventures. I'm not sure what happened but the staff were quick to avoid my questions when I asked.
Back to Urban Corner's lightly battered dory, I thought it was a generous portion and liked that they sprinkled battered bits over it. A pity though that the batter was soft and soggy because I only had it after it was passed around the table for photo-taking. It would probably be crisp if we had it fresh!
