Waking through Sydney fish market is an experience from weaving through the busy counters to carrying our picks out by the harbour where the breeze makes everything taste better. I narrowed down to Peter’s and Christie’s but preferred Peter’s sashimi since we can choose our own cut and pay by weight, which feels more tailored. Tried abalone sashimi for the first time and found it too firm and chewy, not really my thing. The aburi scallops were tender with a smoky, cheesy richness and the lobster roll came indulgent with roe and sauce that gave it a creamy, briny punch. Sitting by the water with that mix of cooked and raw seafood it feel like a proper feast.
