Why settle on one or two when you can enjoy the best of 3 worlds?! Ju Hao @ United Square satisfied my craving and curiosity by having the original XLB with two other novel flavours - salted egg and chilli crab, all in one bamboo steamer. See how much soup was filled in each of these babies!
I find Ju Hao's XLB broth lighter than Din Tai Feng but still tasty enough for its price tag. For a person who can eat everything with salted egg, the amount of salted egg in the XLB was just too minimal to make an impact. While I failed to find crab meat in the XLB, the spicy and slightly sweet soup did resemble the taste of diluted chilli crab sauce.
Overall, I enjoyed the salted egg and chilli crab XLB for something new and different but the conventional me would only go back for the original XLB. 😉
P.S.: Ju Hao by MOF has opened a new branch on Level 1 of United Square.
