Had to visit this place in St Lawrence market after seeing Burppler Veronica Phua’s post. It’s on the upper level of the market, and it’s pretty obvious once you get close to the shop as it’s lined with tons of photos and written articles of celebrities and food critics that have visited Carousel Bakery. Despite that, there was no queue at 3pm and it was pretty evident why. When I made my order, the sandwich was already prepared and wrapped in foil. All the staff had to do was grab it and hand it to me. The sandwich was still delightfully warm, so you don’t have to worry about it sitting cold on the shelf when you receive it.
This is one glorious bacon sandwich. The bacon is cut into thick slabs. It’s a little crispy on the outside, but tender and juicy on the inside. The bacon is a little salty on its own, but complements nicely with the bread. The bread was somewhat like a cross between a ciabatta and baguette, and not as soft as I thought the name would imply - but still good.
Definitely worth picking this up at St Lawrence market! Also, don’t bother having a meal before visiting because there’s just so much food in the market to try on either level. The portions are huge too so bring more stomachs to share!
