Recently experienced Kyudon's budget-friendly omakase along Jalan Dhoby in JB, treating ourselves to a lineup of nine dishes
(Excuse the simplified names, canβt rmb what the chef told us π
)
- Torched Tuna
- Sashimi platter
- Aburi salmon and foie gras sushi
- Ebi sushi
- Unagi sushi
- Unagi bao
- Miso soup
- Salmon and avo roll
- Burnt matcha cheesecake
Personal favorites were the aburi salmon and unagi bao, both showcasing seared foie gras. The rich, velvety texture of the duck liver elevated each bite, and that halved bao is certainly more than a mouthful (lol)
The torched tuna had a meaty flavor heightened by its sauce, and the unagi was perfectly cooked with its delicate charred hints
Raw seafood, especially the amaebi, fell slightly short, missing that perfect sweet note we were anticipating. On a positive note, the salmon, scallop and ikura maintained their usual excellence
Our chef is friendly yet slightly shy - I reckon a bit more interaction would have enhanced our omakase experience
Overall, Kyudon's offering remains a good value for money. We were very very full π
