Oh yeah, it's my turn to be a slut for Eggslut. The American egg sandwich shoppe has finally hit our shores, opening it's first branch at Scotts Square to snaking queues. Y'all folks can't get enough of new food trends eh. (Myself included.) It actually reminds me of Shake Shack when they first opened over here - the queues, the hype, it's all too similar I tell ya!
Being egg specialists, @eggslutsg
offers up egg sandwiches and more! Scrambled, baked, overeasy, you name it. My friends decided to head down on a Saturday afternoon and while there was a queue, it took around 30 minutes to get a seat. (Which is kinda fast.) Well, we decided to get:
◾Fairfax Sandwich + Bacon [$15]
The OG Eggslut sandwich with buttery soft scrambled eggs is none other than the Fairfax. You just have to get this when you're at the slut. And of course, bacon is not necessary but definitely a much need salty and meaty addition to round off the sandwich that's topped with chives, onions, cheddar cheese and sriracha mayo
◾Sausage, Egg & Cheese [$12]
Reminding me of a fancier version of McDonald's Sausage McMuffin, this version from Eggslut was superb as well. The house-made chicken sausage was *chef kiss* and the brioche bun was everything the McMuffin ain't.
◾Cheeseburger [$13.5]
Sadly, the Gaucho wasn't available during our visit. (Why God why.) Hence my friends and I settled for the Cheeseburger as we're all carnivores and needed a lil' meat. Unfortunately, while a good sandwich in its own right, it didn't really impress and was kinda forgettable. It was very similar to the Sausage sandwich - which I found more flavourful cos of the sausage patty. So get that instead I would say if you're deciding between the two.
All in all, I'm glad I got to try Eggslut and be a slut myself. Their egg sandwiches are a pretty solid entry into the local market and the price ain't as bad as - *glances at Shake Shack*. I'll definitely head back to try the Gaucho, but only if there ain't no queues. I'm sure the hype will end sooner or later, just like - *glances at Shake Shack again*.
