[TANJONG PAGAR, SINGAPORE] Kid you not, I've eaten many tonkatsus in SG as well as Japan, and the quality at @shinkatsu.sg lies with the s-tier ones I've had in Japan. The food, service and vibes really made the evening memorable!

They use quite unique sources of pork, such as the Hungarian Mangalica Rosu Katsu Set 🐷 ($42.80). The name sounds fancy but all you need to know is that the pork is so soft and tender, and the flavour is almost sweet (?) It was incredibly rich yet somewhat not too greasy, best part with the many sauces/spices provided. Even the classic Canadian pork katsu from Ebi Katsu Combo Set 🍤🐷 ($38.80) was really tender still. The Ebi Katsu itself was full of umami and perfect with the seasonal Sakura mayo!

Even their sides were amazing. What I thought was a normal potato salad 🥔 ($6.30) turned out to be the best I've had. Kushiyaki sticks, Fried Unagi 🐟 ($8.80) and Fried Oysters 🦪 ($4.30) were so juicy and fresh! Even their Chicken Wings 🐔 ($8.80 for 3) were worth a mention, as it was so succulent and was boneless!

Even if you ate your meal somewhere else, please do yourself a favour and come here for their Candied Sweet Potato with Ice Cream 🍠🍨 ($5.80). It's not so sweet and SO SATISFYING. Think crispy, aromatic, creamy potato with quality vanilla ice cream. YUMZ!

The prices can get quite high depending on what Katsu you get, but really it's worth every penny. Everything we tried were big hits and I'm thinking of coming back again soon!
