Finally paid a visit to @ahothideout's branch in Sembawang. I had previously tried their main branch in NTU and it was an absolute delight.
This branch did not disappoint either. We were fortunate to arrive early because the crowd later on was intimidating, with the queue stretching outside the shop.
Their signature dish is the Mala Collagen Soup base. It had a rich umami flavour that was both savoury and tasty. The level of numbness was mild, and we opted for medium spiciness in our Mala. It was incredibly tastisfying to sip on the soup after enjoying the ingredients. Not overly oily as well.
What sets them apart from regular Mala places is their special touch of deep-frying potato, lotus root, luncheon meat, and dory fish, creating a delightful crunch. And of course, the must-have creamy and fluffy scrambled eggs that you won't find in your typical Mala hotpot.
