Maybe it's just me not having sake in ages, but this absolutely hit the spot in our balmy weather. Anyway, Yamatatsu is a Japanese izakaya of sorts located within Kongsi KL, serving a small selection of bar food and sake-based cocktails. While we were there, they were also joined by a pop-up grill OMG that served grilled meats. We had the shredded chicken rice bowl, the braised pork rice bowl 滷肉飯， curry fish balls and a chicken steam bun 刈包. Loved the pop-up x Japanese streetside pushcart vibe of the place located in the already gritty warehouse atmosphere of Kongsi KL. As this is a relatively small outfit, come early (or perhaps a bit later) to avoid waiting for seats or food. I'd definitely come back as prices are super reasonable, taste was good and I found the Gua Bao especially satisfying. No Midnight Diner 深夜食堂 to be found in my city, so this is an alternative I would gladly accept.
