Hokkien Mee ($4)
.
Was supposed to try the famed Fatty Thai wonton noodles along Beach Road but sadly the stall was closed for renovations. Thankfully, the other stalls located within the coffeeshop were open and each with its own fans dining to the tune of duck rice, claypot rice and hokkien mee/ char kway teow. I decided to try the hokkien mee at He Ji. The smallest $4 portion is sizeable and I love the yellow noodle to thin bee hoon ratio very much. There was just enough chup so that it does not clump up and the sambal chilli packed good heat that paired really well with the noodles. I would rival this plate of goodness to other more famous hokkien mee stalls in town! Definitely want to go back and try their carrot cake and char kway teow. The CKT in particular appeared on many tables when I went there for lunch!
