I could not resist the cuteness overload of this adorable "taiyaki" (Japanese fish-shaped pastry) with vanilla soft-serve ice-cream spouting from its open mouth. Only with some difficulty did I finally pick the Strawberry Chocolate out of the eleven variants available.
I chose to have custard cream for my filling (they have azuki red bean, matcha and chocolate as well), and it turned out to be very fragrant and thick - nice! My Tai-Parfait was prettily decorated with a strawberry, chocolate sauce drizzle, tiny silver sugar balls and a dusting of icing sugar.
The "taiyaki" pastry was the most pleasant of surprises - it's a cross between a waffle and "mochi", being chewy yet having a light crunch.
Located in the basement of Bugis Junction, this is a must-try if you enjoy Japanese desserts. The service here is excellent too, which isn't surprising as the whole team is Japanese.
