A surprisingly good find, this Japanese Izakaya themed gastro bar serves a decent selection of grilled skewered meats and deep-fried items - perfect with a glass of ice cold beer or sake.

Best eaten while hot, both Q-WA Bar and Yakitori's Butabara/ Pork Shio ($2.90/per skewer) and Negima/ Chicken with Leeks ($2.90/per skewer - buy 2 get 1 free) were well-seasoned and not at all dry. For the grilled pork, you can really taste the simple flavours of the smoke-kissed meat as each piece was seasoned with just a sprinkle of salt to enhance the natural sweetness. The Negima, with tender bite-size chicken pieces finished with the savoury-sweet glaze also went really well with the sweet leeks and great with a bowl of rice. However, my eyes were set on their Pork Katsu ($12.90). Not expecting much, the breaded pork cutlet was pretty good with the light, airy and golden crisp coat. I too, enjoyed the fact that the pork had all the moisture locked in and was not too thickly cut but a little pricey for the portion.
