Round up the gang – we're talking warm atmosphere, good music and fantastic burgers at this chill spot. Trust the Burpple community and go for the Jam & Eggs ($15), consisting of house-made bacon jam, an oozy fried egg and smoky, char-grilled pork patties topped with crunchy egg fritters. A side of the Fried Eggplant ($7) is a good idea as well.

Fried eggplants, simple as it sounded; but they tasted amazing with the crispy crust and juicy eggplant inside. Topped with cheese and served with pepperbell dip, we couldn’t stop till the bowl was wiped clean. An absolute yummy bite to go with iced cold beer, or refreshing Cointreau Fizz (in the background).
This was quail eggs encased in a minced pork wrap, paired with sriracha mayo. Eggs were nicely done with a runny yolk and the meat case was tender and well seasoned, but I personally found this pretty average in flavour as a whole compared to their other dishes. I’d go for the spam fries or fried eggplant for more satisfying bites!
Thank you @sevenate.sg for the lovely dinner and @burpple for the invite!
Had the chance to revisit Seven & Ate for a recent Burpple Eatup — Seven & Ate had went through a slight revamp, with the establishment shifting their focus towards a bar and kitchen concept rather than the cafe concept that they used to have had in the day. The revamp sees a change to the operating hours, opening from 4pm to midnight on weekdays, as well as with the introduction of a revised menu that puts more emphasis on their burger offerings, while also having sharing platters such as a Cheese Platter, Charcuterie Platter and Meat Platter that would suit the drinking crowd.
We managed to try a couple of sides, including the Spam Fries, Scotched Quail Eggs and Fried Eggplant — all of them coming with a light and crisp, breaded batter on the exterior which they managed to execute a well without being greasy; I am no fan of Spam Fries at cafes, but their variant is one that I find crisp, yet meaty without being greasy or overly salty. Burgers that we had tried included the 3 Little Pigs (double pork patties, bacon wrapped sausage, slow-cooked pork belly, grilled spam and sriracha mayo in between fluffy, toasted buns and served with nacho chips — a little heavy but would work well with meat lovers with a big appetite), Jam and Eggs (double pork patties, sweet-yet-savoury bacon jam that provides a bite, fried egg white fritters and fried egg between fluffy, toasted buns and served with nacho chips — a lighter option that not only sounds good for breakfast, but absolutely hearty for lunch or dinner), the Gringo (double pork patties, housemade guacamole, fresh pico de gallo in between fluffy, toasted buns and served with nacho chips — a well-sized burger with a Mexican twist that works well for those look for something simple here) and the Atas Burger (double pork patties, blue cheese, foie gras, melted gruyere and shaved pear in between fluffy, toasted buns and served with nacho chips — meant for those who wants to pamper themselves with all the best things in a burger).
It is certainly interesting to see how Seven & Ate had shook things up with their new menu revamp — there seems to be a clear focus where they have found what they were doing well, and decided to put an emphasis on it. We certainly enjoyed their sides (especially those that were fried), as well as the burgers that they have to offer — thanks Burpple for the invite, and Seven & Ate for hosting!
Sliced thinly, breaded and deep fried sooooo well! Loved the contrasting crunchy exterior and fluffy insides, with a generous hand of shredded cheese. I thought it was already delicious on its own, but if you need to spice things up a lil, they have a side of bell pepper dip.
Thank you @sevenate.sg for the lovely dinner and @burpple for the invite!
This was kinda similar to Korean bbq style pork belly with a light smokiness, and it’s also found in some of their burgers. If you’re looking for a side to share, I’d really recommend to get their Fried Eggplant ($8) or Spam Fries ($9) instead!
Thank you @sevenate.sg for the lovely dinner and @burpple for the invite!
I'll choose this over fries any day! 👍🏻 Crispy & golden brown on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Goes really well w their cold bell pepper dip & shredded cheese ❤️ A great sharing dish 🍆
.
Breaded and deep-fried till golden crisp, these light and crunchy nibbles are best eaten with their house-made cold bell pepper sauce for a mild spicy kick.
Thought the Breaded Eggplants reminded me of a similar offering at Carl’s Junior that my friends and I often shared and used to love. The crispness of the breaded batter and the soft insides of the eggplant was a good contrast; that coupled with the light hint of savoury cheese over the top; it was already good on its own without the bright and tangy salsa dip on the side.
This time there is a promotion of 50% discount for second main course.. Wanted to try the duck confit but not available for lunch.. 😔
Pork and oyster burger: succulent pork patty with fried oyster; nacho chips with shaved cheese but the chips quite oily though, need to use a paper towel to dab off the oil; bun tasted normal; love the meat patty..
Pulled duck quinoa rice bowl: various ingredients such as avocado, citrus fruit, egg, etc.; would love the portion a little bigger though..
Breaded eggplant with bell pepper sauce: Super sinful starter; quite crispy and added taste with shaved cheese; bell pepper sauce is cool and refreshing; "very bell pepper"; the sauce probably the most healthier among all food; not a fan of bell pepper so I prefer eating as it is, that's why need exercises to burn that off..
Overall a decent meal, quite oily though; limited lunch menu, probably can try the dinner menu next time..
