The waffles were amazing, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. 😍 I can see myself coming back here for more waffles. #burpple #foreverhungry #waffles #assam #crab #calamari #foodforwaffles #foodforcbd

I enjoyed the refreshing chunks of crab in the Assam Crab Waffle ($16.30), but I couldn't taste much of the essence of Assam in this dish. This simple yet fairly unique waffle is one for the seafood lovers. The Gula Melaka Mayo is quite an inventive twist that I enjoyed ☺

Thanks Montana Singapore for the hospitality, & Casey for the invite 💕

The waffles themselves remain warm and crispy on the outside while soft and pillowy within. But the difference is the innovative use of ingredients that separates the current ones from the previous dishes.
Some of the highlights were the Kim Chee Seafood Waffle with prawn and squid nestled within it, house made garlic mayo drizzled on them and finally sprinkled with kimchi powder.
The Assam Crab Waffle caught the eye too with chunks of crab meat drenched in gula melaka mayo and complemented by appetising pineapple salsa.
The Nasi Lemak Waffle consist of creative interpretations of the typical sides such as coconut rice flavoured waffle, tumeric confit chicken and otah mousse. Paired with the usuals such as sunny side up egg, peanuts, ikan bilis and sambal chilli, one will be genuinely impressed by how close the overall flavour is to the original version

These crispy assam batter waffles were so soft on the inside that they felt so comforting for soul and the stomach. The pineapple salsa was more on the sweet side, which might be due to the possibility of them using canned pineapples? Not too sure but I thought the overall flavour profile of the dish was pretty well balanced. Loved how generous they were with the fresh crab meat too! Like the kimchi seafood waffles, the gula melaka was a great pair with these Assam waffles but, maybe more of it would make the world a better place😉
Would definitely choose savoury waffles over dessert ones anytime!

At $15.80++, I preferred this unique savory waffle compared to the Assam crab waffle that we also tried.

As mentioned, Montana nails the texture of their waffles darn on point - crispy yet light on the exterior; soft and pillowy on the inside. Yet, what baffles about this particular waffle was how they managed to maintain that texture whilst having incorporated REAL CHUNKS of prawn and squid into the batter?!

I loved how the kimchi taste lingered in the batter as well - subtle yet omnipresent. It could’ve been stronger/spicier, though. What elevated the dish for me was the generous shavings if seaweed on top, as well as the specks of chili/kimchi powder alongside. The supposed garlic mayo had a sourish tinge, yet again it was too scant to be detected.

Definitely worth the try though, if you’re a fan of Korean food!

One of Montana’s newest brunch additions, this savory Assam crab waffle was an ambivalent one taste wise.

At $16.30++ (which is relatively not thaaat cheap btw), we found the price somewhat justified as it did indeed came with chunks of REAL crab meat. There was an interesting spice blended into the waffle batter, before being doused with drips of gula melaka mayo, which was tbh, quite tasty - just that the serving was too scant to suffice for an elevation in taste.

Personally, I found the dish to get a tad jelat (too overbearing) towards the end probably due to the canned pineapple salsa used paired with the crab meat. I found it a pity that canned pineapples were used as the sweet syrup engulfed the crab meat, which got too much to finish at the end, when the dish got cold.

What Montana has gotten darn right has got to be the texture of the waffles though - light and crispy on the exterior with a lingering fragrance of the spices; whilst maintaining that soft pillowy bite inside that was oh so satisfying.

Amazing texture, still-justifiable price, must try if you’re feeling adventurous for some savory waffles!

Voted to have one of the best waffles in Singapore, the list of new & revised savoury waffles at @MontanaSingapore reveals some inventive twists – soul food goodness which includes a fusion of local and international culinary traditions:
.
• Nasi Lemak Waffle ($15.50) ✨
Turmeric confit chicken with waffle encasing coconut rice, smeared with fragrant sambal chili, topped with a sunny side up, peanut, ikan bilis and even comes with an interesting otah mousse for upgraded transformation. You just can’t say no to chicken & waffles with a SG swag, yums!
.
• Kimchi Seafood Waffle ($15.80) 💕
Kimchi waffle loaded with prawn and squid, peppered with kimchi powder along with house-made garlic mayo. One of my favourites of the day, 2nd to my nasi lemak bias.
.
• Signature Mac & Cheese Waffle ($13.80)
Truffle mac & cheese waffle with jalapeno served with curried tomato relish. Enough said, this is the waffle that started it all.
.
• Assam Crab Waffle ($16.30) 🦀
Assam waffle with generous chunks of crab meat paired with pineapple salsa and gula melaka mayo. Great for crustacean fans.
.
• Samyang Fire Carbonara ($16.80) 🔥
Samyang hot chicken spice with 5 levels of spiciness, generously coupled with lovely bits of bacon, mushroom and mozzarella normally found in basic carbonara to excite the tastebuds. Level 3 was too mild for me at least, should’ve went for 5!
.
They’ve also recently launched an exciting new weekend brunch menu featuring Smoked Salmon Waffles, Crab Cake Benedict & Cheesecake French Toast, along with new concept known as the Montana Waffle Bar where you can get your fix of soft serve with egg waffles etc. Too waffled with the above to stomach all these down in one setting, can’t wait to be back again for more!

I really appreciated this easy on the palate offering amongst the heavier dishes served.
The subtly tangy waffles were light and airy, drizzled with discreet lashings of caramel-y gula melaka mayo and topped with herabaceous dill and faintly earthy radish slices for contrast. Scattered all over were sweet chunks of crab and pineapple salsa. Each component had a place and provided refreshing balance.
