Review 💬: Although a little on the pricier side, it was definitely worth it. Bread was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and there were also smaller cubes of bread inside the loaf which was fried and generously spread with kaya. Although it was a pandan gula melaka honey toast, the latter was only referring to the flavour of the icecream, which although subtle, was quite sweet. Didn’t really need the small saucer of honey/maple syrup as the pandan sauce & icecream was already sweet enough.

The Taiwanese cafe is famous for their shibuya honey toast amongst other asian fusion dishes.
✔Pandan Gula Melaka honey toast: the gula melaka ice cream is not too sweet which goes well w the honey toast. A pity that the familiar kaya and butter toast is not as good as those served at the home-grown toast cafes.

I completely drenched my toast in honey, and it was lovely. The gula melaka was actually overtly sweet kaya. Sweetness overload, but very satisfied.
My original choice wasn’t available, but the waiter suggested I tried the Pandan Gula Melaka, a traditional favourite. This is literally half a loaf of bread, with the insides removed and carved into large rectangle fingers which were then fried I can only assume in butter and rainbows. The pieces are placed back inside the half load, down the sides of the fingers, green pandan sauce is poured. A scoop of gula melaka flavoured ice cream on top and decorated with strawberries and a wafer. On the side was a jug of syrup although it was already far sweet enough and I didn’t use any of mine! Gula Melaka Honey Toast (SGD $18.90), a tall crispy cube of toasted bread topped with ice-cream and buttered bread squares. The smear of melted butter made the toast exceedingly aromatic; sauce were served on the side for us to douse according to our own level of sweet tolerance.
Pandan Gula Melaka mini toast @dazzlingcafe.sg. Not too much carbs, only the crispy buttery bits that matter. Plus that rich coconut cream and fragrant brown sugar.. it's like a deconstructed chendol (which I haven't had in YEARS). So good. Go eat. Anyhow.. just thinking about 'the early bird catches the worm'... Must be a fat bird because that would mean at least 2 breakfasts if one wakes that early.. Well this early bird is gonna be working out before eating her worms. Have a good weekend!
Chendol on toast! You know how excited I was to see my favourite chendol incorporated as a toast. The traditional chendol dessert came with gula melaka pour onto the ice shavings, this cleverly uses a gula melaka ice cream instead.

I love how crispy the toast is. Although some may find it dry, I mixed it with the ice cream to moisten it. Mixing the toast with the ice cream also helped to balance off the sweetness of the gula melaka ice cream (I found it overly sweet when eaten on its own).

This is Dazzling Cafe's version of chendol, in a form that they're famous for. I could call this a Chendol Toast. Taken during an invited tasting.

Sticks of crispy toasts, spread with kaya, topped with a scoop of salted gula melaka ice cream🍦 , Pandan sauce, coffee wafer stick, strips of green jelly and strawberries 🍓.
Although the mini version wasn't as pretty as the main size one, but it tasted quite nice and one could finish it easily.
