Hot Skillet Prawns (Dinner)

$38.00 · 30 Reviews

$38 - this was OK and I think lacking some salt. Prawns also felt over cooked, which might be because the dish was served on a hot pan and prawns had some time to rest and keep cooking. Probably won’t order this again. I really liked the warm bag of bread app ($4.5) which was a lovely light bread!!

Finally made my way to Artichoke, a funky Middle-Eastern Inspired restaurant who claims to be “the least authentic Middle-Eastern restaurant around”.

Many hearty dishes can be found here which are familiar but with a twist. Most memorable dish was the harissa prawn, where the green pepper harissa sauce was so complexly savoury and earthy, topped with coriander to give it a whiff of addictive bliss. We used all the remaining bread to wipe off every drip of sauce ~

Another yummy one here is the date pudding, nutty flavours with dark satisfying sweetness. Perfect way to end the meal with.

Of course, coming here you can’t miss out the mezze, and we ordered the babaganoush, which is always a refreshing and smooth combination with bread! Their tater tots were also a nice pre-dinner comfort snack 😋

Grab a seat on the cobblestone courtyard at Artichoke and pull up your pants for the most exciting Middle Eastern-inspired cuisine you'll find in town, complete with a great soundtrack. Chef Bjorn Shen holds nothing back with creations like Crab Toast ($16) with chicken crackling and trout roe. Confused? So is Burppler Terence Ong, who loved the fluffy brioche buns and sweet blue swimmer crab mixed with tzatziki. "You can never go wrong with fried chicken skin." Burppler Kristen Yeo likes the Green Harissa Prawns ($38) too.

tiger king prawns with delicious sauce!! sauce tastes like creamy thai curry with herbs. not too sure if it’s worth $38 but i must say, they give fresh and big prawns!

If it ain’t broke don’t change it. I was duly impressed when I had this previously and that opinion still stands. A sinfully rich coriander, green chilli and split cream sauce sees huge, succulent, smoky prawns submerged in them. The individual elements are excellent, but I’m still not entirely convinced they go hand in hand. Nevertheless, utterly delicious.

I find it similar to Thai green curry with huge crunchy prawn.

From the seafood corner and new to the menu, there’s the Cuttlefish Shawarma ($25) that’s cooked through over a mangal grill and drizzled with a chicken fat dressing. For a burst of flavours, look no further than the Green Harissa Prawns ($38) made with a sambal of an herb and chilli blend. Carnivores are not left behind as the Steak of the Day, in this case, the Australian Black Angus rump cap, is seasoned slightly before going over a woodfire grill till medium rare; served with a Middle Eastern pesto and the punchy Toum, a garlic meringue made with whipped egg white, oil and salt. Last but not least, there’s the chopped Lamb Ali Nazik ($34), a traditional kebab from Turkey that comes with a bed of eggplant mash. This is the absolute sinful dish that tastes oh-so-good with the buttery and oily goodness from the butter chilli oil.
