Considering the social media frenzy behind the opening of Chick-fil-A’s very first outpost in Singapore, there really isn’t much of an introduction needed for the brand and their Bugis+ location here. Chick-fil-A is an American fast food chain founded in the United States in 1946 and aside from its operations within United States and Singapore, it also does have locations in Canada and United Kingdom. Operating as a franchise of the brand, the Bugis+ outlet takes over the former premises of Pull & Bear at the ground level of Bugis+.
Sinking our teeth into the Chick-fil-A® Deluxe, we did notice that the burger buns were light, soft and fluffy — with that being said, the bottom bun does come slightly on the thinner side; considering how the Chick-fil-A® Deluxe does contain slices of tomatoes, this also meant that the bottom bun does seem to break rather easily especially with the fact of how the elements in between tend to shift around while one takes bites into the burger. The highlight here is definitely the fried chicken fillet; whilst we were recommended the Chick-fil-A® Chicken which is said to give a fuller bite of the fried chicken fillet due to the lack of other elements, we thought that the Chick-fil-A® Deluxe also gives a noticeable meaty bite with a thin but crisp batter on the deep-fried, golden-brown exterior, while the flesh itself is chunky, tender and doesn’t come with the streaky, fibrous texture that one would associate with fast food fried chicken — all that whilst feeling like it was seasoned with just the right amount of salt and pepper. The accompanying pickles was a little bit of an odd but still acceptable addition (considering the fried chicken fillet patty against a grilled beef patty for typical burgers) that provided a tang and a crunch to reset the tastebuds. Coming with a slice of cheese as well as slices of tomatoes and lettuce, the cheese does add a hint of savouriness, while the tomatoes and greens provided that a bit of balance to the burger for a more wholesome experience.
