Yamada Beancurd is a go-to spot if you’re craving a comforting dessert at night, served from a food truck.

They offer beancurd in both original and pandan flavors, paired with your choice of white or brown sugar (Gula Melaka) syrup. I went for the Set C, which came with a delightful mix of toppings like taro balls, peach gum, and brown sugar pearls that’s freshly cooked on the spot. The pandan beancurd (available only on Friday and Saturday) is another must-try. I got it separately and it was silky, smooth, and subtly sweet. Their cold soya milk is pretty refreshing too.

Heads up, the queue here can get really long, but honestly, it’s worth the wait.

The beancurd shaved ice is the star of the show, boasting a creamy, melt-in-your-mouth smoothness paired with a subtle sweetness that serves as the perfect canvas for the accompanying toppings. I added mini taro balls that brings a chewy and satisfying bite. I particularly like the sesame ball for its distinct flavour and fragrance. The water chestnut balls also offer a unique crunch and refreshing twist. The rose jelly was however a miss for me.

The pandan soy beancurd feels wholesome and comforting. The subtle pandan flavour adds a unique twist, infusing the dessert with a light, fragrant sweetness that perfectly complements the natural, mild flavour of the soy. The sweetness level is just right, not too overpowering which allows the pandan and soy to shine through without being cloying.

This beautifully presented bowl is a delightful combination of soy beancurd shaved ice, peach gum, snow nest, ginkgo nuts, mixed taro balls, honey pearl, grass jelly and choice of sugar (osmanthus honey).

It originally comes with beancurd which I had it changed and topped up to shaved ice. The soy beancurd shaved ice is light and airy, with a delicate sweetness that melts in your mouth. It’s beautifully complemented the assortment of toppings that add both texture and flavour.

Whether you prefer a nuttier crunch or an extra touch of sweetness, the osmanthus honey and crushed peanuts are served separately which allows you to customise the dessert to your liking 》RM16 + RM3 Soy Beancurd Shaved Ice

If you are having your meal at Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, then you should leave without grabbing some fried snacks from this shop.

Famous for their 3 in 1 Chinese cake, which is a combination with sweet potato and yam.

They're a canele specialty shop. The standard is what most people would consider a proper canele I guess

Centre was actually quite ok. The exterior has a bit of chewiness to the crunch, so not the best

It's alright I guess

[JB, MALAYSIA] If you are looking for a huge selection of pastries and pretty great coffee, @sevenoaksmalaysia is one place to go for! We had a selection of pastries and most were hits.

The G.O.A.T. (~RM25) was one sinful yet delicious croissant. With a chocolate ganache centre, chocolate fudge on top and chocolate cookie dough all around, this would be every chocolate lover's dream. Definitely one pastry to share 😂

The Ham Croissant (RM20) is one savoury pastry to try too! With strong savoury flavours and a very flaky crust, this is a contrast of flavour compared to the other pastries. There was quite abit of mayo within so might be quite rich!

As for coffee, the Iced Rose Latte (RM12) was a good choice and I loved it. It wasn't too sweet, the rose flavour was not overpowering and complemented the smooth fragrant coffee well!

We did not try their mains but their pastries are not too bad!

[JB, MALAYSIA] Back at my favourite Malaysian eatery Tong Guan, that sells a good range of Malaysian kopitiam dishes that were of good quality! Honestly, I do think that this place is a good introduction to Malaysian food, considering the variety they serve and the good quality they have managed to sustain. Here are some dishes we ordered:

Fried Yam Kuih - now this is the winner for me. The exterior of the yam kueh pieces were so crispy while the inside remained so fluffy. Each crunch is so satisfying and tasted even better when you dip onto their sambal chilli! Very addictive and probably the best yam kueh I've had.

Durian Chendol - absolutely love their Chendol, as it isn't too sweet and yet the Gula Melaka was aromatic! The beans were soft and creamy and the ice had the right consistency. The durian flesh was aromatic and was so rich!

Signature Kopi - although it can get quite sweet, the aromatic Nanyang bean flavour was just so inviting. There was no dryness in the aftertaste (or the siap siap feeling)! Just a good smooth coffee 😍

Definitely will be back to try more dishes!

(RM 11.90) Finally tried their matcha red bean crossiant as I tried their kaya crossiant previously. The matcha taste quite weird tbh but sauce texture was quite thick, milky and creamy. But the red bean filling is not much and just a mini scoop of it only :") The croissant texture was quite flaky, crispy and crunchy after reheating 5 mins around 150 degree celsius.
