This will be the place to go. They beat the egg with sugar then espresso shot below. They even placed the warm water around the cup to keep the drink warm.
A really lovely drink.

Aromatic vietnamese coffee topped with a delicious, frothy egg foam that tastes like custard. The owner used to work in France as a chef and opened this cafe in Hanoi which is hugely popular with local hipsters and justifiably famous for its trademark brew.

This egg coffee is prepared with beaten egg yolks, sugar, condensed milk and robusta coffee. From the first sip, it tastes similar to a drinkable creme brûlée but a very sweet and frothy one. Not really something that I would order again as I only took a few sips and that’s about it.

Watch how the locals simply chill with a cup of coffee, even by the road side.

☕️ Founded in 1946, Café Giảng is famous for its unique cà phê trứng (VND 25.000), or egg coffee. Think rich Vietnamese coffee topped with a creamy layer of whisked egg yolk, sweet condensed milk, butter, cheese. Very eggy and slight buttery, but surprisingly blended well into the roasted bitterness of the coffee. Touristy place and drink, but it’s legit, so you might not wanna miss it.

☕️ On a return visit, we tried other drinks in the egg series. Since mung bean is a popular ingredient in Vietnam, so why not the đậu xanh trứng, egg with mung bean (VND 30.000)? Imagine eating mung bean powder with all the sweetened condensed milk, the entire drink was just overly sweet! I preferred the Matcha trứng, egg with matcha (VND 40.000) instead, as the bitterness of the matcha powder reduces the overall sweetness.

☕️ One interesting drink that I also tried was the iced dracontomelon (VND 30.000). This green fruit, which I have never heard before this, is commonly eaten in Hanoi. Though mainly sour in taste, but it makes a refreshing drink on a hot sunny day.

Tip: If you are riding a scooter, you can park at the BIDV bank branch located at the crossroads of Hàng Tre and Ngõ Nguyễn Hữu Huân for an hour!

Claimed to be the first and the original one. It's very strong coffee, like espresso. I do like it though. It's creamy, strong and smell darn good!
