A few steps away from Restoran Woon Kiang is a outdoor car park where San Lou Kway Teow Kia operates! Since we were already here, we couldn’t miss trying out both stalls. We paid 6RM (S$2) for this 1 person portion of chosen ingredients with a bowl of kway teow kia. Like other places, you have lots to choose from - pork belly, pig intestines, pig tongue, tofu, beancurd skin, pig stomach, eggs, etc. We went with the beancurd skin, eggs and small intestines.
Liked the kway teow kia here, noodles were smooth and the broth was pretty robust. Compared to Woon Kiang, their broth is not as strong in its herbal flavour, but it’s more savoury, flavourful and wasn’t as diluted (a personal preference). It was very shiok and comforting to slurp down! Ingredients wise, was a pity that their intestines were quite bitter, but please look at how thoroughly braised the eggs were, that colour!!! Between both stalls, I much prefer San Lou for its kway teow kia, affordability and no frills dining area.
