Salmon Poke bowl A quick fix for Poke bowl in CBD. Watermelon was refreshing and the sushi rice was not dry. Value for money with Beyond at 1 for 1.

Good for a rainy day Hororok is a small shop with 4 seats only, $17.90 burpple set includes 2 stews and 2 drinks (yuzu or barley). Taste wise is quite average tasting,good amount of ingredients - satisfying on a rainy day Saw that some reviews included ice cream but I think it’s no longer part of the burpple deal as at Sep 2023. Saw that the ala carte price for the stews are $9.90(R) /$11.90 (L) so the deal is not exactly 1-for-1. Would come back if I’m around the area looking for an affordable, quick fix Korean stew

Comfort Korean soup Ok my photo doesn’t do this justice haha If you’re looking for some decent Korean soup especially during rainy days, this is perfect. Not too expensive and with beyond even more worth it (I like that I get to finish the meal with a melona ice cream)

Raw Scallop Carpccio Served on a cold plate, the texture and taste is sooooo good. With a bit of truffle on top, the scallop just melts in your mouth. A must try!!!

Sashimi With Burpple Beyond Deal for 1-for-1 sashimi, we had salmon and swordfish sashimi that were served on ice with shredded daikon radish. The slices were fresh and relatively thick for a satisfying mouthfeel.

Chicken Karaage Donburi For lunch, it offers a menu of donburis and cutlets starting from $10. Each main comes with a side of salad, miso soup and rice. The Chicken Karaage Don has bite-sized chicken pieces on top of hot Japanese rice. Each chicken piece was crispy, tender, juicy and flavourfully marinated.

super recco!! have been wanting to try this place for a while now & finally went down to try today. was initially put off as it was a bar-type of place so i didn't know if it would really be good. however!!!! i was so pleasantly surprised. first the staff were so attentive & helpful! and the star of the night for real. this bowl was $29.90 & each type of sashimi had FIVE SLICES (as opposed to 3-4 from most places). the sashimi was tasty although defo not like omakase/jap restaurants type of level but rly rly enjoyable! they had tuna, salmon, swordfish, scallop, octopus and tamago. my only feedback is that the wasabi could have been less artificial. there was no ++ and after 1 for 1, we only paid $29.90 for TWO big bowls! 🙌🏻 ps: there's happy hour promos every single day w some days being soju night & housepour spirits night (1 for 1 too). had a look at their christmas cocktail menu which looked q yummy too! would defo be back to try their drinks on a non-weeknight 😉

Burpple Beyond Set For Two ($39) Visited the place during dinner time! The place is small and there were no seats, so the staff seated us at the tables inside Kajiken instead (1 shop down, beside Onkei Tonkatsu). Seems like the three eateries are affiliated~ There was no yakitori available on that day so the staff allowed us to replace it with their usual other sides, and we opted for the mentai hotate and mentai tamago (not pictured because we already ate them 🤣). Both were quite nice! BB set comes with a don of your choice, salad, free-flow hot/cold green tea and miso soup. The chirashi don has a sizeable portion of mixed sashimi however there’s also non-sashimi items inside (cooked prawn and japanese scallop). Interesting additions but my personal preference would be for the mixed sashimi to have more sashimi varieties and less octopus 🐙

Decent food for the price Paid $38 for this 1-1 deal. Pretty decent and fresh chirashi bowl for the price, got 1 mentaiko and 1 normal. Set comes with green tea, salad and yakitori. Very filling meal even though the chirashi bowl looks small. Will not pay full price for this though, as the food quality is very much average, but it’s value for money for the burpple price paid. Place was very small and squeezy, ambience is poor especially if you want to sit there and chill. This is more for a takeaway/ “fast food” joint. Staff was friendly though, and offered us a seat at the tonkatsu place beside (which was relatively more spacious). Service was good.

Prompt and excellent service The place is pretty small but the waitress is very helpful to get us a table next door selling tonkatsu. (I think they are under the same company) Ordered 2 sets of the same item. Pricing is around $38 for 2 sets. So far I have experienced positive service experience over at this Paya Lebar outlet as this is not the first outlet which I have gone to. Will be back again :)

Decent Cheese Katsu! Back at @onkei.tonkatsu to try their other tonkatsu variations and was satisfied with their Cheese Rosu-Katsu Set ($19.90)! The pork fillet was quite well fried till golden brown and it was stuffed full of cheese! The meat itself may be a little dry, but it is definitely meaty. The chicken is best paired with the tonkatsu sauce, which was pretty tangy to cut the rich fat flavour from the cheese and meat fillet. They offer free refills of rice, soup and cabbage, and I liked the soup the best due to its rich meaty and umami flavours. This may not be one of the best tonkatsu I've eaten, but it's definitely decent, filling and affordable. A great lunch option for the offices nearby!

Chicken Katsu and Tempura Chicken Katsu is soft and Tempura is crispy. Not too oily. Cabbage is crunchy.

Karage and Oyster Karage is very soft. Oyster is fresh

Comes with roasted broccoli is very crunchy, fresh and well seasoned together with truffle scrambled egg is soft and creamy then topped with furikake and seaweed. Fried Tofu Rice Bowls Rice bowls from fullstop at funan mall! Have been wanting to visit this eatery for a long time since I always frequent Funan mall area, but always putting it off because i found the price slightly ex for the ricebowla. Finally dropped by to try the food one fine day! Have read quite a few good reviews for the Fried Tofu Rice Bowl ($9.90) so decided to try it out! This rice bowl came with crispy coated fried tofu, scrambled egg, braised mushroom, furikake, seaweed and with miso soup. I will say portion wise it was filling. But it was not something super wow to me. Price was affordable because I had one for one with burpplebeyond , otherwise I will find the food slightly pricey. it’s okay… burgers were alright and a little small tbh. i was also given the wrong sauce :( from left to right: Alpha ($13.90), Original Wolf ($9.90), Timberwulf ($7.90). sides were not bad tho!! the fries ($4.50) were damn good super crispy but v oily and jelak. seaweed butter corn ($2.90) literally tastes like it sounds.

Timberwulf ($8.90) A classic fried chicken thigh, topped with cheddar cheese, coleslaw, honey mustard mayo in a brioche bun. I would’ve actually said that this is a quite a delicious chicken burger BUT the fried chicken thigh was small - significantly smaller than the brioche bun itself. That’s such a huge disappointment for a burger! I personally also would’ve liked it more if the chicken thigh was slightly oilier so that it would be much tastier. I think overall it’s still a pretty nice chicken burger, and definitely a great pick for the price point after the 25% off Burpple Beyond discount. It was worth a try seeing that the place was fairly talked about for a period of time - but I doubt I would be back, unless either the quality and taste of food steps up or the price goes down. I find that it’s stuck in a vague middle ground where I’d rather go for something cheaper or something tastier. Especially being in a competitive mall like Funan where there are so many other food options! We visited on a weekend evening and there were many seats available. The ambience is very much like your usual fast food chain.

Original Wolf ($9.90) Quite a standard burger, overall I would say it’s slightly above average in taste but definitely a great pick for the price point after the 25% off Burpple Beyond discount. The ground beef patty was actually a good balance of oily/tasty and dry/healthy, if you get what I mean. It definitely wasn’t oozing and dripping, but it wasn’t dead dry and tough either. Complementing it was the shop’s secret Wolf sauce (every burger shop seems to always have their own secret sauce), cheddar, sautéed onions, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. All of this goodness packed between two sesame seed brioche buns. Milo Espresso Shake Love this drink!! They put milo powder into the drink I think and also topped it off with milo powder on top which is super gao. Taste quite similar to mocha so mocha lovers will definitely love this
